Meteorologist
The Role:
AlertMedia is seeking a Meteorologist to join our newly formed Global Intelligence team. This role will play a critical part in making sure our customers are provided with timely and accurate information when there is a critical weather event in their area. As the Meteorologist on the Global Intelligence team you will use the latest forecasting tools and insights to inform our global Analysts regarding upcoming weather events that could impact our customers and their employees. As an expert in weather and climate you will ensure AlertMedia is using the right tools to monitor global weather events as well as partner with the marketing team to offer our clients timely and informative discussions in advance of weather events. This position requires a meteorologist who is looking to expand their portfolio beyond traditional forecasting and is willing to immerse themselves in an opportunity to use their expertise in a new way.

You are an experienced meteorologist who is excited to work alongside a group of Global Intelligence Analysts, leveraging your expertise to forecast and track critical weather events globally. You are energized by the idea of building a meteorology function from the ground up and helping to shape the future of a new and impactful team. You’re inspired to make a difference and understand the importance and responsibility of supporting valued customers during critical events. You have sound judgement with the ability to make difficult decisions under pressure. While you are comfortable on camera, the side of meteorology that drives you is the science behind weather and the opportunity to help and inform people.

What you will do:
- Use weather forecasting tools and services to identify weather events that could have an impact on our global clients as well as climate and other related science subjects such as earthquakes and wildfires
- Partner with Analysts on upcoming and ongoing weather events to ensure our teams are focused on the right incidents and locations
- Work with AlertMedia's Marketing team to host relevant webinars for clients, often in advance of a major events or weather seasons
- Support the Global Intelligence team Systems Specialist in surfacing the best sources of "weather as news" for AlertMedia clients and their employees
- Utilize source tools to identify and monitor incidents and potential threats globally
- Communicate critical information effectively and with urgency and provide updated information as necessary
- Ensure that all information is delivered with the highest level of accuracy and speed
- Work with AlertMedia's Global Intelligence team to continuously update sources to ensure the highest level of monitoring and knowledge
Requirements:
- Degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science (or equivalent combination of training and work experience in weather forecasting)
- Minimum 5+ years experience as a Meteorologist
- Strong forecasting skills coupled with the ability to take complex scientific concepts, both weather related and beyond, and communicate the effectively
- Global focus on weather and climate
- Ability to multitask effectively with strong attention to detail
- Broad understanding of weather forecasting tools and systems
- Ability to work under stressful situations, in a fast-paced environment with critical timelines
- Desire to be a part of building something new, exciting and evolving
- Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate and collaborate with others
- As a key player in a 24/7 team, this role requires shift flexibility, specifically based around weather events
- If on-air experience: submission of a talent reel of quality work samples/videos
- Must be located in the Austin, TX area or willing to relocate
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred:
- Professional society certifications in CCM or CBM
