Position Overview:
As the Oracle DB Administrator, reporting to the Director of Applications, you’ll need a strong background and demonstrated skill set in administration of both Oracle DB and DBaaS. You will be responsible for performing both advanced and all general database administration functions including overall database and system design, maintenance, upgrades, backups and performance. You must be detail oriented, responsible, and self-motivated with a passion to learn and improve your skills. A good understanding of PCI compliant environments is required for success.
Responsibilities:
• Administer Oracle8i -12c and other RDBMS including MySQL
• Understand and use Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) tooling and how it interacts with other Oracle database tooling
• Automating database tasks to reduce to amount of manual intervention over time
• Drive database architecture best practice and coding guidelines
• Ensure that the databases are up and running and in line with expected SLAs
• Manage cloud database and infrastructure environments hosting key company databases
• Create and present technical presentations to Senior Leadership Team and internal customers
• Advise Senior Leadership Team on ways to improve overall system and database processes
• Implement plans to achieve departmental priorities
• Ensure that databases are in line with compliance rules and standards
• Actively participate and provide valuable inputs to global initiatives
• Analyzes database performance and capacity analysis/tuning
• Build strong working relationships with vendors and external service providers
• Create and prepare application database performance reports
• Seek to understand and support broader company objectives
• May guide others
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent DBA experience
• 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience
• Oracle RAC experience required
• Experience with Oracle RMAN and Oracle Enterprise Manager highly preferred
• Experience with Oracle diagnostics and tuning pack, and data encryption capabilities
• Understand and use Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE)
• Experience in database change management/data management through the various stages of the system development life cycle
• Advanced knowledge and experience in physical/logical database design
• Advanced knowledge and experience in database security management
• Advanced knowledge and experience utilizing backup and recovery principles Recovery Manager (RMAN)
• Advanced knowledge and experience in space management and capacity planning Advanced System Management (ASM)
• Advanced knowledge and experience in database architecture and system design
• Advanced knowledge and experience in database performance tuning principles
• Experience in database change management/data management through the various stages of the system development life cycle
• Linux experience – RedHat and CentOS
• Cloud IaaS and database platform service experience is required
• Cloud certification on AWS and Oracle Public cloud preferred
• Experience in shell scripting
• Experience with Oracle Streams, High Availability systems, Partitioning, Data Guard/Standby Database, Change Data Capture, Data Warehousing
• Experience with Microsoft SQL-Server desired
• Experience with VMware
• Ability to handle multiple/conflicting projects and deadlines
• Ability to work on call and provide 24/7 production support
• Demonstrated communication skills with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators
• A strong ability to build cross functional partnerships and work collaboratively
