The Transactional Compliance Team is responsible for ensuring compliance with externally driven regulatory requirements and internal policies and standards as it relates to transactional activity. The team will (co)author and (co)own policies, standards, and reporting that address transactional activity at WFM and support transactional activity audits performed by WFM, Amazon, and regulatory authorities. The Principle Transactional Compliance Analyst’s first task will be to help stand up this newly formed team. This position has one direct report with intent to grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads team tasked with regulatory transactional compliance. 
  • Leads research to keep current on regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Reviews and approves reporting to ensure reporting requirements are achieved.
  • Ensures timely submission of reports to various regulatory agencies.
  • Establishes consistent application of tools, practices, and methodologies.
  • Performs audits and analysis to identifying trends, inconsistencies, and areas of concern and recommending corrective action as required.
  • Authors and monitors compliance to policies and standards.
  • Engages with Finance leadership to develop and deliver process and control improvements over regulatory requirements.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of multiple reporting and Accounting & Financial systems.
  • Strong financial reporting skills.
  • Understands team’s function and how it supports WFM’s goals.
  • Strong math and statistical skills for analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, policies and practices, including GAAP.
  • Able to identify and develop resolution strategies for underlying and systemic issues within accounting, financial management, and business systems.
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal communication skills and levels of tact and diplomacy.
  • Communicates effectively with all types of audiences, internally and externally, including senior leadership.
  • Conveys and consults on complex matters with broad organizational significance.
  • Recommends actions or alternatives to be taken by senior leadership when audits / reports disclose unfavorable trends, deviations, or financial mismanagement.
  • Develops complex solutions to business problems through in-depth analysis and coordination / negotiation with key decision makers.
  • Uses experience, innovation, and judgment to make decisions that may be based on partial information.
  • Considers enterprise-wide implications of decisions and recommendations.
  • Delivers recommendations that are strategic and long-term in nature, relating to business strategy, financial performance, and effective resource utilization.
  • Leverages knowledge of customer, market and industry trends, and emerging challenges to make business improvement recommendations.
  • Holds others accountable for exhibiting WFM principles and core values.
  • Ensures team commitment to and delivery of excellent customer service.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
