Research Scientist III
What we’re looking for
Research Scientist III takes ownership of research studies investigating the ocular signals of cognitive states required for product-driven research and development. They conduct literature reviews and synthesize bodies of research with reports distributed to internal and external stakeholders. They analyze data resulting from studies, creating best practices for assessing data health, and generating of a variety of statistical models of effects. They present these results to team members during team data and code review meetings on an ongoing basis, as well as to the company in general when relevant. They prepare experiment reports similar to manuscripts for publication, and mentor other team members to refine their analyses and manuscript preparation. They have the ability to serve as a resource to provide scientific information relative to overall company vision.
Responsibilities
Take ownership of research studies required for the development lifecycle of a product
Conduct literature reviews and synthesize bodies of research with reports distributed to internal and external stakeholders
Analyze data as part of a team using python notebooks
Present results of analysis to team members on an ongoing basis
Prepare experiment reports similar to manuscripts for publication
Follow IRB Protocol and standard operating procedures in human subjects research
Ability to serve as a resource to provide clinical and scientific information needed for various initiatives
Create python functions to extract useful features from the datasets
Manage and mentor team members
Any other duties needed to help drive to our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization's values
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Neuroscience, Vision Science or a related field
3+ years of clinical research experience
Ability to apply research knowledge and laboratory skills to execute successful experiments at the intersection of vision science, neuroscience, psychiatry, and cognitive science
Human subjects research experience
Experience with research statistics (e.g. parametric, nonparametric, and Bayesian statistics)
Experience with python and scientific computing libraries (e.g. NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib)
Familiarity with SQL
Familiarity with agile workflow
Experience preparing manuscripts for publication
Extra Points:
Experience with model building (supervised and unsupervised machine learning)
Experience writing grant applications and/or IRB protocols.
