We are looking for an experienced business analyst who is able to work efficiently with large data sets to glean insights about the business. You will get your hands dirty and solve difficult analytical problems across functions for the business, ensuring that various departments in the business understand their own health, find growth levers, and identify opportunities for optimization. Additionally, you will support efforts to streamline business processes with data capabilities. 

The ideal candidate will have experience working in fast-paced environments, possess strong technical skills and demonstrate the ability to identify, prioritize, and execute upon opportunities that align with Spruce’s broader strategy. The best analysts know what questions to ask of the data and, more importantly, how to add value with data beyond performance tracking.

You Can Expect To:

• Wear many hats! In a startup environment, you’re never limited to your role and will be encouraged to look for improvement opportunities across the business.
• Work with operations, product, sales and other business functions to understand their data needs and to consult on how they can become more data-driven
• Improve our data capabilities and reporting/dashboard infrastructure (Looker) to enable decision-making throughout the organization, providing a self-serve experience to stakeholders from all levels and functions
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of internal and external reporting across the organization
• Understand business processes, identify opportunities for process improvement / automation and execute on identified improvements
• Own long term business analytics projects (e.g. customer segmentation) that will drive significant business value
• Work closely with leadership to answer important questions about our customers, our partners, our product and the business

Who You Are

• 1+ years of experience in a highly analytical role, preferably in a field such as consulting, finance, or analytics
• A proven track record of using quantitative analysis to impact key business decisions
• Strong storytelling skills with an ability to communicate effectively with managers and executives
• Comfortable with ambiguity and proactively finding problems to solve
• Hands-on experience with Looker or another visualization tool is a plus
• Proficient in data visualization, forecasting and modeling; SQL experience is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Economics/Statistics/Math/Engineering a plus
