OJO Labs - Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

OJO Labs is looking for a dynamic, incredibly talented, passionate, and data driven individual to join our Analytics team as a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst. This is a unique opportunity, as one of the first hires on the team, to help build and manage multiple facets of the data and analytics function from the ground up as we enter our next stage of growth!

OJO Labs is on a mission to fundamentally improve the way people make their most important decisions through the fusion of machine and human intelligence. By combining natural language understanding with data and personalization, the product allows for consumers to deeply engage in a purchase process prior to having to interact with a salesperson.

We have rapidly grown to over 200 employees globally with operations in Austin, TX, Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN, and Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia. We have raised over $70 million in venture capital from top tier investors, tech executives and leading industry partners. We are currently scaling into key markets across the U.S. and Canada and are set to lead the market as our patented AI technology is rolled out to millions of consumers. 


About the Analytics Team

This role is an opportunity to join the team on the ground floor of something special and help to build out the function. Our vision is to democratize the use of data in our company and steward building a data-driven decision culture. We aim to provide every team with reliable, trustworthy self-service access to information while partnering with the executive team and cross-functionally on meaningful, deep analyses for how to scale and improve our business. Every day is different—from partnering with operations, engineering and product teams, to exploring new data sources, to deep diving ad-hoc analyses, to establishing processes, training users on our data warehouse and BI platform—there is always important, challenging, and exciting work to accomplish in an incredibly fast paced and innovative environment!


About the Role

You will be expected to greatly contribute during our next growth phase in multiple areas. You will have extensive input into and ownership of strategic and tactical areas of the function as well as broad exposure to internal and external stakeholders across all company areas.

Among your responsibilities will be:

  • Work with the Director of Analytics to help develop and deliver the analytics function vision and framework of support across the company
  • Drive the partnership efforts of the team by:
    • Leading analytics support for key areas of the business such as operations, customer success, or productCreating needed reports and dashboards in our business intelligence platform—Looker—for overall company KPIs and individual business use cases
    • Performing ad-hoc and deep dive advanced analytics analyses with whatever tools and data needed on a number of interesting and challenging topics such as user engagement, operational bottlenecks, process handoffs, marketing spend 
    • Creating scalable processes and tools to enable quick, iterable testing of product feature and process changes across the company to drive performance improvements and company-wide efficiency improvements
  • Drive the data democratization effort of the team by:
    • Becoming the subject matter expert on Looker, our Business Intelligence platform of choice, and championing it’s use and training around the company
    •  Partnering with product, business and eventually engineering teams to gather better business requirements on future analytics and reporting needs that will ultimately result in architecture changes, new events, dimensions and measures across our systems

To be considered, you should have:

  • 2-4 years of prior experience as a business or technical analyst, ideally in the software industry with consumer facing products; experience with A/B testing, experimentation workflows a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or another quantitative field
  • You should love data and beam with intellectual curiosity for how to use it
  • Demonstrated ability in prior roles to identify, distill, and effectively communicate business insights, challenges, and potential solutions solutions to stakeholders 
  • Strong prior knowledge and experience with Business Intelligence Tools – Looker (our main platform), Tableau, is a strong plus, MixPanel; Excel mastery is a minimum
  • Ability to manage competing priorities effectively, making good decisions based on business priorities and objectives in an often hectic, start-up environment
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and a keen attention to detail
  • Intermediate to Advanced SQL knowledge—helpful for writing ad-hoc queries accessing our data warehouse as well as understanding broader data architecture patterns
