Description
EPAM's Experience Design (ExD) team is looking for a Senior Human Factors Researcher. Human Factors
Researchers assist internal development teams on user interface design and usability through application of
human factors principles, standards, and methodology to identify and mitigate design induced end-user
performance issues. In this role you'll be responsible for understanding the product vision and using this
knowledge to communicate user research findings to engineering and solution owners. You'll be responsible
for collaborating with other members of the ExD team to solve complex design challenges and understand
the end-user requirements at each stage of the development process. You'll plan and conduct quantitative
and qualitative user research studies in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, acceptability, training impact, and
error tolerance for a project. You'll interpret and analyze the results of user research to validate the success
of a design based on established usability goals and common heuristics. You'll present and communicate your
user research findings to project teams and stakeholders. As a Human Factors Researcher, you will help to
define participant requirements for human factors researcher studies, advise internal development teams on
user interface design and usability, and facilitate the most effective method to elicit and represent usercentered
design across all Intellectual Property domains.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Professional training in cognitive psychology / human factors / human computer interaction / human-centered design, including
    • Qualitative / Quantitative research design (selection of methods, analysis plan, and reporting objectives)
    • Application of HF/UX evaluative measures for benchmarking and comparative analysis
    • Participant sampling
  • Study facilitation experience, including
    • Remote / In-person usability testing (formative / summative)
    • Discovery research (interviews, focus groups, and co-design)
    • Card sorting / tree testing
  • Academic research experience, including
    • Publications and /or conference presentations
    • Strong secondary research skills, including
    • -Literature review development and summary
    • -Retrospective data analysis
    • -Library resources: journals / research repository
    • Familiarity with data science and basis statistics
    • Scientific peer review
    • Thesis defense / post-doctoral research preferred


REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 8 years of total combined higher education and related work experience, including
    • Master's or PhD degree in Human Factors Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Ergonomics, or other related fields
    • At least 2 years of Human factors research work experience
    • At least 6 years of higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job
  • Ability to interface with customers in a highly professional manner
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize large quantities of information into usable communications
  • Strong communication and organization skills and ability to multi-task effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management with diplomacy and tact
  • Knowledge of industry's best practices

ADDITIONAL

  • Depending on the position, EPAM employees may need to work at a client worksite or an EPAM office.
