Design Research Lead

RigUp is seeking a driven Design Research Lead to join our Design team. If you have a strong desire to experiment and push the boundaries of user-centric design, we’d love to hear from you. As the Head of Design Research, you will specialize in uncovering user needs. In partnering with designers as well as other internal stakeholders, you’ll develop a research practice that uses quantitative and qualitative data to unlock improvements as well as uncover innovation opportunities. What You’ll Do

Establish an internal design research practice that is scalable and serves as a foundation for a growing research team.

Rely on quantitative and qualitative research methodologies (usability studies, 1:1 interviews, focus groups, benchmark studies, surveys, etc.) to allow us a deeper understanding of our users.

Effectively synthesize and communicate research results to internal stakeholders and the company at large to help magnify the impact of the findings.

Establish success metrics for research practice.

Work alongside designers and product managers to validate designed solutions through interviews and prototypes.

Share tools and best practices internally to enable others to independently conduct user research.

Work cross-functionally to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

Support new business verticals by facilitating a better understanding of new user types. Help them establish communication channels and feedback loops with growing user bases.

Build empathy across the organization to help us stay true to our north star, empowering the people.

You’d be a great fit if you have:

3+ years experience in a similar role

A demonstrated understanding of design through the lens of product design and research

Scaling a design team quickly

Experience identifying research opportunities for growing business sectors and user groups

In-house experience at a fast-paced tech company

Experience mentoring, coaching and helping other product designers and researchers
