Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our incredibly talented Design team at Kendra Scott! Reporting to the VP of Design, the primary focus of the Director of Design- Jewelry is to guide the Design team in the timely, effective and on-brand completion of jewelry collections and projects.
Responsibilities:
• Guide Design team to best interpret direction from Design leadership into on-brand, beautiful jewelry collections that meet aesthetic, assortment and business goals
• Oversee design of multiple jewelry collections and accompanying technical processes
• Guarantee standard of best practices for design production process and pro-actively implement improvements
• Review completed jewelry prototypes to ensure that desired aesthetics are translated to finished product
• Partner with Design leadership team to ensure alignment with design intent and assortment goals during prototyping phase and throughout entire design process
• Partner with Product Development and Merchandizing leaders to align and collaborate at key process milestones
• Attend industry conferences, lectures, trade shows, and other avenues of research to keep informed of new product directions and trends
• Maintain a clean, efficient and safe working environment
Design Team Member:
• Champion the Kendra Scott design aesthetic, quality expectation and innovative mindset
• Maintain a high level of communication and collaboration with Design leadership team and peers to ensure continual progress toward timely, accurate and cohesive assortment completion
• Confer within Design team and cross functional teams to establish and assess best practices for
day-to-day operations and organization of all shared design data
• Contribute own and regard others personal aesthetic sensibilities to enrich team perspective
• Must be organized, able to act independently as well as take direction, and able to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain a clean, efficient and safe work space
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 10+ years’ experience as a jewelry design leader for a high-growth company
• Experience with jewelry fabrication and manufacturing
• Expertise in manufacturing needs for fashion and fine jewelry with focus on achieving aesthetic form and mechanical functionality
• Working knowledge of Photoshop, MS Excel, Illustrator and Rhino preferred
• Ability to sketch and provide other visual directives
• Excellent ability to comprehend and communicate aesthetic and conceptual intent with a particular focus on brand objectives and production capabilities
• Excellent attention to detail
• A strong ability to build cross functional partnerships and work collaboratively
• A proven ability to define and achieve departmental objectives, strategies and develop plans with achievable timelines
• An inventive solutions-oriented mentality
• A growth mindset: track record of leveraging past learnings, encouraging new ideas and smart risk taking in self and others
• Strong communication skills with a proven ability to build cross functional partnerships to make effective decisions collaboratively
• Strong executive presence with ability to compel and inspire internal and external audiences
