As our UX Director, you will develop the organizational maturity of our UX practice, growing our team of researchers and designers to keep pace with R&D investment, including a complete overhaul of our dashboard application! You will evolve and diversify our UX services, expand our practice through inclusion, and weave design thinking into the fabric of our org. Finally, you will collaborate with Product and CX leadership to drive a holistic UX strategy and elevate our services across the entire customer journey.

Your day to day

  • Drive product vision and strategy
  • Enable product discovery to fuel customer-inspired innovation; equip product triads to experiment and iterate
  • Monitor, communicate, and influence the overall quality of design output and its contribution to business objectives
  • Communicate clear goals and objectives, establish next steps and owners, and resolve blocks that impede progress
  • Assess risk, raise flags, and resolve issues before they become problems
  • Refine and own design philosophy, principles and guidelines, ensuring they are consistently applied to every product and experience
  • Develop frameworks and shared resources for more accessible research and more easily adopted design standards
  • Establish processes and velocity expectations that allow the UX team to do their best work; balancing speed and creativity
  • Motivate and guide the team to create designs that keep WP Engine at the forefront of UX design
  • Establish clear career growth and leveling expectations for the team
  • Model and promote a healthy, inclusive, and collaborative team culture

Your passion and expertise

  • At least 12 years of deep experience in managing all aspects of User Experience-including research methodologies, idea facilitation, iterative experimentation and design, IX patterns and visual language, success measurement, and so on
  • Strong awareness of the various UX specialties that have emerged, and a pragmatic approach to assembling the right mix of specialists and generalists
  • Extensive experience creating UX teams, resulting in significant demonstrated business return
  • Fantastic ability to attract and hire genuinely good people with top talent
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at an enterprise level and successfully manage several large complex projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, strong knowledge of Product Discovery, and familiarity with Program frameworks such as OKRs
  • History of motivating and developing team members through coaching; success building healthy teams
