Skipper is looking for a product designer to join us in the EdTech revolution. Education products? Yeah, old and dated. Skipper is all about creating a simple, innovative, and beautifully designed platform that customers actually love.

Series B or C? Not quite. Skipper is in its early seed stage, a high-speed and pre-revenue environment with a total of 10 employees. Our current private beta is a group of 200 homeschooling families that love our product. Our official launch is planned for Fall 2021.

About us

Our Product

Skipper is a social learning platform that brings parents, students, and teachers together to collaborate and accomplish more with less. Create and host courses, share resources, and manage learning all in one place. Our platform can be broken down into seven modules.

Plan. Discover. Create. Teach. Communicate. Organize. Grade. Each section is designed to stand alone and flex in a variety of ways, but also merge together into one epic pipeline for learning.

Visual Designer

You will be responsible for working directly with the founders to create clean, colorful designs across the platform. You will work mainly to refresh UI components and ensure designs are developed to spec throughout the platform.

Your responsibility

  • Work in cross-functional teams to refine requirements and iterate on design alternatives in an agile environment
  • Refresh and design  UI like menus, buttons, and drop shadows
  • Create designs for emails, etc.
  • Create sketches, rough wireframes, and high fidelity prototypes
  • Not daunted by complex product suites and requirements
  • Take initiative to reach out across teams and connect on problems, come up with new ideas, and share solutions with others

The requirements

  • Proven experience with UI design with a strong portfolio of sample projects
  • Expert understanding of industry tools, such as Sketch, InVision, Figma, Webflow, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and empathy for the user
  • Capabilities across prototyping, and design system implementation/contribution
  • Ability to work with developers to ensure pixel-perfect designs
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment
