As a Manager of Digital Design, you'll...

We're looking for:

  • Someone who knows design inside and out, and loves helping designers grow in their careers
  • Education (formal or otherwise) in design, UX, HCI, cognitive psychology, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience with a proven track record in design with demonstrated impact
  • 5+ years of experience managing designers and cross-functional projects
  • Experience working in the grocery, retail, supply chain sector, or service design
  • Enterprise design experience


What is the work?
Management:

  • Manages Designers; leads Experience and Product Designers, Design Technologists, Design Researchers, and Content Designers to support initiatives, methods, processes, and operations, and continued scaling of the Design Team and craft
  • Spends most of the time using independent judgment making employment-related and business decisions, including product and department related strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding, or resolving Partner-related matters
  • Provides thought leadership on areas of Design craft through education and identifying areas to level up the team
  • Allocates and manages Design resources; implements team structures, budgets, and resources
  • Trains, coaches, and mentors on Design Thinking methods and processes; enables and encourages cross-functional participation
  • Manages process and people leveraging and enabling the teams different design skills, including design research, information architecture, service design, interaction design, visual design, content design, and prototyping
  • Serves as Design point of contact for stakeholders
  • Continuously drives design and deliverability to improve the internal business facing experience
  • Navigates the organizational ecosystems; applies understanding of systems-level implications of design decisions of assigned Designers
  • Collaborates with product managers, engineers, designers, data scientists, and other stakeholders in an agile, sprint-based environment

  • Ability to think through complicated design systems and challenge existing constraints
  • Ability to comprehend complex information and requirements from multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts to create meaningful design solutions
  • Ability to maneuver complex situations sensitively and quietly, to get things done via formal and informal channels
  • Ability to present and explain solutions and decisions to stakeholders in a style that fosters collaboration and consensus building
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and shift focus between projects
