As the marketing designer, you will live at the critical intersection of product design and marketing. At ShipStation, we appreciate that the lines between product and marketing are flexible. We see marketing design as the communication of value - and we see product design as the fulfillment of that value or brand promise. Both functions need to produce at a high level in order to grow our customer base and improve an already high level of customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities:

  • Refine and enforce ShipStation’s brand standards across our product and marketing communications to ensure consistency across customer touchpoints
  • Ownership of brand guidelines
  • Drive the continuing evolution of ShipStation’s visual brand 
  • Work with the product marketing and product teams to create a cohesive, positive experience throughout the customer/user onboarding process
  • Create brand and design assets for the website, social channels, print, and email
  • Create landing page templates that can be utilized at scale by our marketing engineering team, associate and contract designers 
  • Work closely with copywriters, marketers, developers, and product managers
  • Demonstrate expertise in storytelling, typography, layout, and aesthetics of all creative assets
  • Create storyboards and produce motion graphics in order to communicate ShipStation’s value to current and potential customers 


Nice to have:

  • Video production and editing experience


Ideal candidate:

  • Has a portfolio of high-quality production work including page layouts, typography, brand color palettes, style guides and more
  • Has mentored other designers 
    • Improve their design chops
    • Help them systematize their approach
  • Has a ready framework and process for approaching projects to ensure they are done according to best practices
  • Can talk to successful outcomes of past projects via metrics, surveys, etc
  • Experienced with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Sketch
  • Experience working in WordPress
  • Some knowledge of CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript
  • Ability to communicate proactively across various departments and teams
  • Excels at presenting ideas clearly and concisely
  • Understands the value of a clear narrative and can marshall storytelling devices to captivate an audience
  • Always proofs his/her work before presenting it
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and over-communicates timelines
