The Challenge

Forcepoint’s Technical Learning Services team focuses enabling customers, partners, and internal resources that sell and support Forcepoint’s on-premise and hyper-converged cyber security platform products. The purpose of such enablement is to create hyper-competent people, able to leverage Forcepoint’s products to free the good, while stopping the bad; implementing Forcepoint’s Human Point System.

 

We are seeking someone with deep end-to-end experience developing enablement assets, from performing front-end analysis to instructional design, curriculum development, beta test, and general availability of courses in all modalities, including instructor-led multi-day courses, virtual instructor led courses, and self-paced on-demand micro-learning. The focus of the content for this person will be products in Forcepoint’s emerging technologies (for example UEBA, CASB, DDP, and some under development). While this role is primarily about analysis, instructional design and content development, you will be part of a growing global team of enablement experts, reporting to a Senior Manager within the organization, collaborating with people who primarily deliver, Training Coordinators, Learning Program Managers, SMEs from the emerging products’ engineering groups, and other stakeholders. You will use your strong instructional design and adult learning principles as well as using a variety of content development tools and methodologies, to create engaging technical training content. You will ensure that training materials are suitable for the context and environment in which Forcepoint customers, including the different customer personas.

Who You Are

  • Able to use sound instructional design to create courseware for a given product, including: Learner analysis to create personas aligned with the product; Task analysis aligned with the personas
  • Enjoy meeting and communicating effectively with SMEs and stakeholders globally to validate all analysis, demonstrate / validate content you develop
  • Keen ability to define learning objectives and create objective performance and knowledge checks to validate a learner’s mastery of course content
  • Enjoy developing highly technical, detailed, engaging, task-based training based, where the learner rarely spends more than 2 minutes without doing something (type a command, click through a menu, interact with voice prompts, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of Agile Kanban and Scrum methodologies and can work in small teams to develop content collaboratively, with precision, speed, and transparency
  • Able to grasp the Forcepoint “Human Point” strategy within the delivery of training to ensure that students understand how the Human Point Strategy is realized in our products and solutions
  • Interested in cyber security and willing to build knowledge of, and stay current in, Forcepoint products and solutions, and associated offerings
  • Excel at creating media assets or leverage existing assets, perform image manipulation/optimization and modification of design layout to suit changes in the content
  • Able to participate in peer-review as part of an Agile development team: design documents, analysis documents, storyboards, content drafts of other Course Developers 
  • Able to deliver content as part of beta or general-availability deliveries of new courses
  • Enthusiastic about quality. Eager to drive continual improvement of assigned courses based on feedback
  • Able to and enjoy leading and mentoring teams developing other courses while also developing your own, lending them your instructional design experience, content development experience, tooling experience
  • Able to envision new methods of delivering content for complex products requiring significant resources, either on-prem or in the cloud
  • Able to lead discussions on revising content style standards and collaboratively create / revise them
  • Capable of holding highly-technical conversations with engineering SMEs
  • Understand modern engineering practices, even if you aren’t a software / hardware engineer
  • Have an acute attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management with the ability to follow through on multiple tasks and projects in parallel
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently as part of a global team

 

Required / Desired Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal skills, especially in US English required. Other languages desired.
  • Masters in Instructional Design or equivalent experience required (using adult learning principles, methods, theories and techniques) for global audiences:
  • 10 plus years of curriculum development experience
  • 10 plus years of instructional design experience
  • 5 plus years leading teams designing and developing enablement content (technical training for end users, partners, technical support engineers, etc.) required
  • Solid capabilities in at least one procedural programming language required
  • Understanding of one object-oriented programming language desired
  • Understanding of web services concepts required. REST API concepts desired.
  • Mastery of standard content development tools including Microsoft Office, Camtasia, Captivate, Articulate, and at least one online presentation tool (for example: WebEx, Zoom, Adobe Connect, etc.) required
  • Mastery of Web-services development tools (postman, python, etc.) desired
  • Basic experience with straight-line Analytics required. Experience with Deep Learning / Machine Learning desired.
  • Master of on-prem vs cloud and hybrid solutions. SaaS concepts required.
  • Classroom, virtual classroom, or self-paced content delivery experience required
  • Experience working with cyber security field highly desired
  • Experience collaboratively creating content style standards suitable for global audiences

We are located in the North Austin area by The Domain, off of Braker between Mopac and 183. Our office patio overlooks Quarry Lake.
