Who is Bold Commerce?

Named one of North America’s fastest-growing companies by Deloitte, Bold Commerce provides innovative ecommerce technology for businesses of all sizes. We believe Bold brands should have the ability to create and customize powerful transaction experiences — across all channels. Pepsi, Staples Canada, Vera Bradley, and Harry Rosen are among the 90,000+ brands in over 170 countries that trust Bold’s suite of ecommerce tools to power their online stores every day.

We're made up of more than 300 professionals who live and breathe ecommerce, and truly care about what we do. We call ourselves Builders. Here at Bold, we live by the BUILDERS Code, our shared set of practices, beliefs, and values that help to shape this dynamic company.

We’re looking for an experienced senior Designer who is passionate about elevating people and our products, to lead our Product Design Team. Reporting to the Director of Product, you’ll oversee the group of designers working on our various teams, acting as a mentor, to truly make a difference. You’ll provide coaching and feedback, act as a sounding board when a challenge arises, and take time to celebrate our wins. On the technical side, the successful candidate must have experience in both UI and UX design, as well as experience with SaaS design, specifically with a SaaS tech product. We need someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, who can balance both taking care of our people and designing meaningful solutions, if this sounds like your ideal role, we want to hear from you!

What you'll do

  • Support the growth and development of the designers on your team through mentoring, teaching, and coaching; as well as regular check-ins and one-on-one meetings
  • Help us maintain and improve our career progression framework
  • Participate in annual and semi-annual performance reviews
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Lead Product Managers, Lead Software Developers, and other design leads to help us understand the problems we should solve and how we should best solve them
  • Provide strategic design for teams to ensure we’re all heading closer to our future-state vision for our company, its brand, and product offering
  • Work closely and collaboratively with product managers, developers, quality assurance analysts, merchant success, and designers on other teams to create holistic solutions
  • Understand the business requirements and technical constraints that we’ll be working with, but also push to make delightful user experiences
  • Conduct and facilitate design workshops with your teams
  • Conduct research sessions with users to help us better understand the jobs that need to get done
  • Help us continually improve our discovery process, research capacity, design systems, and pattern libraries
  • Explore and validate new and innovative concepts and ideas for features and functionality

What we’re looking for

  • A work ethic that demonstrates dedication and commitment to Bold’s mission and belief in our BUILDERS Code
  • A degree in UI, UX, app, or web design; 5 years of relevant experience; at least 1 year of experience in a leadership capacity
  • Must have experience in SaaS design, preferably with a SaaS tech product
  • A portfolio of amazing work to show off your design thinking, approach, and skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in designing delightful user experiences, as well as best practices according to web and accessibility standards
  • Ability to think and design at an ecosystem level, and translate that into the specific features and functionality we need at a team level
  • Ability to develop user flows, journey maps, design requirements, and understand the jobs that our users need to get done
  • Strong communication skills to not only share your ideas, but also understand and help people express theirs
  • Ability to comfortably present ideas, designs, and research findings back to the team or the company
  • A desire to organize, motivate, and inspire other designers to grow their abilities and achieve their full potential
