The Design team at RapidDeploy is looking for a Product Designer who will work on our ecosystem of cloud and mobile software for 911 call takers, dispatchers, and first responders. The Product Design role will encompass both visual and interaction design. Product Designers at RapidDeploy work closely with other Product Designers and Design Researchers on the team, as well as with teammates in Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Bring a user-centered design approach to solving for complex design problems in a large, high-stakes ecosystem with multiple user types
- Develop wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes that clearly illustrate function and feel as part of user testing and/or getting buy in from key stakeholders
- Create beautiful, usable, and accessible components and patterns for our design system
- Participate in design research and synthesis activities with our design research team
- Conduct usability testing in the field with users
- Proactively identify and address gaps in our user journey and experience
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal team members (e.g. product managers) and external parties (e.g. customers, integration partners) alike
- Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with Product Management and Engineering
Requirements
- You have at least 5 years of proven work experience as a UX or Product Designer, including experience in applications design and establishing design systems with the portfolio to prove it
- You demonstrate deep knowledge of and experience with design tools and software, e.g. Figma
- You are a strong verbal, written, and visual communicator
- You are a generous collaborator
- You not only enjoy working in a safe, friendly, and collaborative design culture, you help to create one
- You are deeply curious, love taking and acting on feedback, and are an effective and efficient problem solver
- You manage your time and can self-direct your work when needed
- You can deftly navigate the complexity, ambiguity, and competing requirements that come with design
- You show strength and flexibility in balancing user needs, design solutions, business strategy, and technical feasibility
- You are based in Austin, TX, or are willing to relocate
