Rooster Teeth Games is looking for an experienced Character Artist who can bring their knowledge, creativity and experience to a fast-paced, dev environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong 3d modeling/texturing background, multiple game credits and a passion for shipping high quality products with a fun, collaborative team.

Responsibilities:

• From 2D concept to final 3D asset; character artists sculpt high resolution meshes, retopologize them into game-ready assets, layout UVs, paint textures, and create materials ready for Unreal Engine 4
• Create clean, deformable meshes setup properly for animation/rigging that also meet performance targets for the game engine
• Create believable, memorable characters loaded with personality and style
• Take an existing character design and create multiple variants for player customization
• Ability to work in different styles and interpret art direction; filling the gaps between concept art and modeling
• Work with external contractors (outsourcing) to ensure a consistent style and mesh requirements across all characters

Qualifications:

• 2+ years professional game production experience in a Senior Character Artist role
• Shipped at least 2 game titles from pre-production to final release (preferably a AAA console or PC title)
• Impressive portfolio showing a wide variety of character models and textures (humans, creatures, robots, etc) and styles (realistic to stylized)
• Strong knowledge of Maya, Zbrush, Substance, Photoshop, and Unreal
• Solid understanding of Physically Based Rendering (PBR) tools and techniques
• Working knowledge of Perforce (or source control equivalent)
• Ability to concept character designs a BIG plus
• Flexible & adaptable to new tools, environments, and unexpected challenges
• Comfortable iterating on ideas using rapid prototyping techniques
• Positive team-oriented attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proactive and self-motivated (comfortable working without direct supervision)
• Must be comfortable working in a small, highly collaborative team
• Must be able to accept critique of your work and have the ability to embrace change
• Must have a sense of humor
