Position Overview:
The Technical Specification Lead for jewelry is a member of the Design Team. The Technical Specification Lead is an exempt, full-time position reporting to the Design Manager. The Technical Specification Lead’s primary function is to capture design intent for jewelry designs to produce impeccable technical specification documentation according to brand standards. This role combines the need for proven excellence in communicating product design through documentation and efficiency in delivering high quality work in a high volume - fast paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Technical Specification and Documentation
• The primary responsibility of the Technical Specification Lead is to produce impeccable technical specification documentation of product on behalf of Design Team for handoff to cross-functional partners and vendors to yield the highest quality finished products
• Capture direction for materials and color mixes to sample-applying to finished styles to achieve design intent and price point goals for overall collection
• Communicate and follow-up with cross functional teams regarding design intent for product during vendor sampling process
• Adjust, edit and otherwise rework designs as needed in partnership with product development to satisfy manufacturing needs, functionality expectations and monetary goals for styles as requested by Design Management
• Create, maintain and distribute Visual Assortment Sheets showcasing jewelry collections in development to team and cross functional partners
• Participate in relevant meetings with Design team and cross-functional departments
• Manage priorities to achieve highest quality work within specified timeline
• Clearly and proactively communicate project timelines and status to Supervisor and cross functional teams Apply problem solving and collaborative skills to develop solutions to jewelry construction challenges
• Explore non-traditional jewelry assembly, fabrication and other construction techniques to inform ideal and alternate manufacturing of designs
• Ensure all deliverables are of the highest quality
Organizational Duties and Resource Maintenance
• Maintain Photoshop Resource Library and physical materials charts and other jewelry making
Tools/equipment
• Maintain Design Excel Tracker
• Create and input stone and material orders into Excel document as needed
• Maintain and organize 2D and 3D shared files and design standards, tools and equipment based on best practices established by team
Design Team Member
• Champion the Kendra Scott design aesthetic, quality expectation and innovative mindset
• Maintain a high level of communication and collaboration with Supervisor and members
of the design team to ensure continual progress toward timely, accurate
and cohesive assortment completion
• Confer within design team and cross functional teams to develop and assess best practices for
day-to-day operation and organization of all shared design data
• Contribute own and regard others personal aesthetic sensibilities to enrich team perspective
• Must be organized, able to act independently as well as take direction, and able to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain a clean, efficient and safe working environment
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• 5+ Years in the jewelry industry at a high-growth company
• Bachelor’s Degree in Jewelry design or Product development field or equivalent job experience
• Graphic Design education or equivalent work experience a plus
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Excel
• A proven ability to execute with consistent delivery and reprioritize based on evolving business needs
• Knowledge of costume and fine jewelry construction-stone settings as well as working mechanisms including clasps and hinges with a focus on mass production capabilities
• Good working knowledge of natural stone and various materials properties and limitations as it pertains to product design
• Excellent listening and communication skills
• Advanced problem-solving skills with an eye for technical detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent ability to communicate 3D information with a particular focus on production/manufacturing capabilities
