About the role
As a UX Designer for Alpha Paw, you’ll take part in defining and refining the customer experience for our websites and internal tools. In this role, you’ll take on complex requirements and contribute to transforming them into intuitive experiences. This role is inherently cross-functional. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, marketing, etc to bring products to market, develop and grow business opportunities, and enhance our customer experience. You’ll use your skills to influence how products function and most importantly, be an advocate for user needs.
What You'll Be Doing
- Partner with product managers, design peers, developers, and project stakeholders to conceptualize, architect, and implement intuitive and functional experiences.
- Analyze user experience goals and challenges; and propose solutions that meet user’s needs as well as achieve business goals.
- Develop and maintain personas, user flows, low fidelity wireframes, interactive prototypes, and specifications to support product definition, UI design and development.
- Participate in ideation and scoping for new initiatives, feature enhancements, and A/B tests.
- Clearly articulate interaction design choices and be open and eager to receiving feedback.
- Collaborate with design team members to maintain best practices, pattern libraries and design consistency across our sites.
- Partner with developers and QA to ensure product designs are implemented to specifications.
- Analyze user sessions and customer feedback to understand user behavior, and recommend enhancements and/or usability testing where needed.
Requirements
- 3+ years of UX design experience, with a focus on B2C e-commerce products.
- Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
- A professional portfolio that demonstrates your UX capabilities, creativity, and problem-solving. Specific focus on e-commerce is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficiency in responsive web design and in tune with e-commerce best practices.
- A strong understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, and information architecture.
- Ability to lead the UX process and deliver user flows, conceptual sketches, and wireframes.
- Intuitive understanding of, and empathy for various user types: their motivations, goals, and abilities.
