About Us
imaware™️'s mission is to change the world of healthcare and at-home testing. There's never been a more important time to help empower people to take control of and understand their health - all while pushing the boundaries of what 'modern healthcare' should really look like. We're looking for people who will help us think bigger, challenge the status quo, and add to a collaborative mindset of continuous learning. We are obsessed with creating a seamless and simple experience to make sure that our patients are well cared for, no matter where our products meet them in their journey. imaware™️ team members all have a shared passion for answering tough questions in the pursuit of helping our customers, and one another.

Our team has adapted to a hybrid work environment, and works collaboratively both in our Austin office and from home. Despite many of our team members being in different locations and time zones, we're putting in the effort to make sure that our people are connected, cared for, and supported so we can all participate in building a culture that stems from a shared purpose.

About the Role
As more and more patients come to imaware™ to take back control of their healthcare, how they interact with our software–from walking them through how to take our tests, to understanding their results–is as crucial as ever! Therefore, we’re looking for a User Experience Designer to be the first on a new team here and help us revolutionize how customers engage with our products. Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, the UX Designer will work directly with Product and Engineering teams to build designs and prototypes for the myriad of software products we offer, such as our Patient Portal, as well as our Admin and Partner products. You will be heavily involved in user research, conducting interviews with customers and clients to understand core needs, validate design concepts, and successfully test the best approaches. You know how to get technically in the weeds with Engineering teams, while knowing how to collaborate with Marketing to create a consistent brand strategy with accompanying design libraries. But more than anything, you’re obsessed with the customer journey and how best to make their goals a reality through an engaging and worthwhile experience. Here are a few other things we’re excited for this person to accomplish:

  • Create post-MVP designs for currently existing, highly-visible products, as well as create the MVP prototypes for an ever-changing suite of consumer-facing products
  • Participate in and improve the UX research process through direct patient interviews, creating a scalable system to collect and measure feedback, and directly improve our product offerings through consistent iteration
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams, getting buy-in on new product designs and user flows, while aligning on overall design and brand strategies
  • Build the foundation of imaware™’s user experience philosophy and execution, wearing a variety of hats in order to positively impact the product roadmap, vision, and journey

Minimum Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of professional experience in user experience and interface design, focusing specifically on consumer-facing software products
  • Direct working experience interfacing with and collaborating with Engineering team members and Product Managers, with a technical mindset to appreciate what is and isn’t technically feasible
  • Demonstrable experience with responsive mobile and desktop product designs
  • Must have participated or led user research projects and interviews, gathering and measuring feedback, and using data to inform substantive improvements
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects/designs simultaneously, juggling competing priorities to ensure high-impact projects get delivered in a timely fashion
  • Experience working with Figma or other prototyping tools (e.g. Zeplin, InVision, etc.) to build testable workflows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferably Austin-based or open to relocation, but will consider remote on a case-by-case basis
  • Startup experience, and/or work in the health, healthcare, or wellness industries is highly preferred
  • In addition to consumer-facing product design experience, work on B2B and/or SaaS products is nice to have
  • Familiarity and working knowledge with basic technologies such as HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript

Benefits and Perks

  • Fully and partially covered medical benefits
  • Fully covered dental, vision, life, short and long term disability
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Flexible work environment
  • 401K
  • 20 days of PTO
  • $75 continuing education stipend per quarter
  • Free imaware™ tests
  • Virtual and in-person team building activities/social events
