Director of Engineering

The Director of Engineering will be responsible for managing teams of software engineers across multiple enterprise product lines. Successful candidates will have outstanding analytic capabilities and a track record of delivering successful products as both a developer and leader. Experience with Java as well as .NET development environments will also contribute to success in this role. The ability to prioritize changing demands, multi-task, and creatively meet tight deadlines in addition to being extremely process focused in a fast paced environment is a must.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and lead a high performing software development team
  • Create product using a quality focused approach
  • Create a culture of innovation to deliver world class products
  • Collaborate across Product Management, Professional Services, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Architects and Support to plan, execute and track software releases
  • Partner with Professional Services and Sales to support the sales process and product implementation projects
  • Instill development best practices that will drive a high quality result
  • Manage Engineering Managers and partner with them to mentor, train and grow an entry level engineering team
  • Manage relationships with third party vendors whose products integrate with Accruent.
  • Consistently demonstrate Accruent’s values: respect, integrity, drive to excellence, results orientation, winning attitude, hard work

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • 8+ years software engineering management experience
  • 8+ years hands on software development experience
  • Strong technical skills in at least three of these areas: Web development in Java, .NET, C#, JavaScript, SQL Server, Oracle Databases, MicroStrategy
  • Demonstrated experience managing managers
  • Demonstrated experience working with geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Project management using agile development practices: SCRUM, TDD (Test Driven Development)
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. MS degree preferred.

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Successful lead role in developing enterprise application frameworks
  • Thorough understanding of web based scalable, redundant technologies
