Who we are: Lynx delivers modular, open standards-based software solutions that redefine the economics of developing, deploying, and maintaining high assurance, mission critical edge platforms. These secure edge computing solutions are designed to drive innovation and operational excellence in today’s most demanding environments. From advancing aerospace and defense capabilities to transforming commercial and industrial systems, Lynx collaborates across a wide range of industries, including automotive, medical, and critical infrastructure, to deliver tailored, high assurance solutions aligned with specific mission and operational requirements. Our key products and services are:

  • LYNX Mosaic: A software platform that can include a LYNX safety-critical real-time operating system. MOSAI.ic's modular design provides robust support for multicore processing. It allows different operating systems and applications of different criticality levels to be run on separate cores for improved performance, reliability, and security.
  • CoreSuite 2.0: A suite of graphics libraries and tools that enable GPU hardware acceleration for both graphics and "GPU Compute", supporting applications such as machine learning and AI processing in edge devices.
  • MOSA.ic.SCA and Vigiles, tools that provide Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) and Common Vulnerabilities Exposure (CVE) management for embedded Linux-based and other applications.
  • Software development services for high-reliability applications that can include initial setup of a "DevSecOps" development environment, software application development, and long-term product lifecycle management.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Director of Engineering Operations to lead the operational backbone of our engineering organization. This leader will oversee engineering development and monitoring processes, ensuring program and project execution aligns with business goals. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker who brings structure, transparency, and metrics to complex technical environments. This role will directly manage Technical Project Managers, Safety Engineering, and Certification teams, ensuring alignment and efficiency across all phases of engineering delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Establish and refine engineering operations processes that improve predictability, quality, and throughput.
  • Program Management: Oversee project and program execution across multiple engineering teams, ensuring milestones, budgets, and deliverables are met.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Define, implement, and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and visibility tools that track engineering performance, velocity, and quality.
  • Process Improvement: Introduce and evolve best practices for Agile and hybrid development methodologies across distributed teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Product Management, and Executive Leadership to align strategic priorities with execution.
  • Governance & Compliance: Drive adherence to safety-critical and certification processes (e.g., DO-178C, ISO 26262, etc.), ensuring audit readiness and traceability.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team of Technical Project Managers, Safety Engineers, and Certification Teams.
  • Tooling & Infrastructure: Evaluate and optimize toolchains supporting project tracking, documentation, and reporting (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet).

What You’ll Bring

You are a results-driven operational leader who thrives on creating clarity from complexity. You have a passion for building scalable systems, aligning teams around measurable outcomes, and continuously improving the way engineering delivers impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering operations, program management, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Proven success leading complex, multi-program engineering efforts in software or embedded systems environments.
  • Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and hybrid methodologies; experience driving process adoption across diverse teams.
  • Strong data-driven mindset with experience establishing engineering performance metrics and reporting systems.
  • PMP certification (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience managing safety or certification engineering functions (DO-178C, ISO 26262, or similar) highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — able to influence across engineering, product, and executive teams.
