Q2 is seeking an ambitious and adaptable Android  App Developer experienced in the ins and outs of development in a team environment. As part of our Engineering Development group based in Austin, TX, you will be working individually and collaboratively to develop, implement, and support custom solutions through fast-paced, dynamic projects involving components at every level of the Q2 platform to extend its functionality to meet our clients’ unique needs. Our ideal candidate is someone with a self-motivated tinkering spirit and who is comfortable diving into professional development life while rapidly learning to engineer solutions using a mix of open technologies and our own proprietary framework.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement, integrate, and test software solutions of moderate complexity for iOS and Android.
  • Work with our web application developers to create a first-class hybrid mobile banking application.
  • Work with our QA team to build the foundation of automated mobile UI testing utilizing Appium.
  • Work with DevOps to build robust tooling (https://fastlane.tools) to deliver software to our customers fast.
  • Build an extensibility framework into our mobile apps that allow our customers to build custom functionality on top of our base mobile application.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all security, availability, confidentiality and privacy policies and controls are adhered to 

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • 2+ years of software development experience
  • Build hybrid iOS/Android applications with Swift and Java.
  • Previous experience building automated mobile testing systems
  • Work in a cross-discipline agile team to build compelling mobile user experiences
  • Passion for applying good design principals while exercising pragmatism to keep deadlines
  • Previous JavaScript experience is a plus.
  • Experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle
  • Experience engineering software in a service-oriented architecture
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience contributing in an Agile development environment
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Occasional availability for on-call/emergency support
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary for deadlines and off-hours installation

In 2015, as a technical recruiter with no background in programming, “Mo” Slavin found an engineering candidate she’d never expected: herself. She enrolled in a Q2 program called “Project R,” which hires non-engineers interested in learning to code. Mo learned basic skills and the Q2 tech stack, starting as a Python developer before moving onto the core team. “I’ve never been discouraged from learning something new at Q2. There were no boundaries to my opportunities.” Thanks to unbridled support, Slavin is now a staff engineer who volunteers her time for Code2College, a career prep program.
