Associate Backend Engineer

The Associate Backend Engineer role provides you with a unique opportunity to join a high growth, startup software company entering our 4th year. We are looking for a strong individual contributor with at least one year of professional experience working with Python applications. As an associate engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to work shoulder to shoulder with the smartest developers in the industry. We're laying the foundation on which our industry will be reinvented; we're looking for individuals who want to drive significant change. What you'll do when you get here:

• Consistently ship high-quality code to production
• Provide timely support to both internal and external users of the system
• Work closely with a cross functional team of product managers, designers, QA, frontend, and backend engineers to turn our roadmap into reality

What you need to have:

• Production experience in Software Development (Minimum 1 year required)
• Ability to empathize with our users and really listen to their requirements
• Strong CS fundamentals, knowledge of our stack (Python, Django, Postgres), and a desire to learn and master your craft
• Database Skills - 3rd Normal Form is “normal” to you; You can write complex SQL by hand and you're familiar with ORMs
• Familiarity with cloud-based services like Amazon AWS
• An understanding of application performance (Big-O and profiling) and data structures
• Able to work in the United States

Bonus:

• Experience writing automated tests
• Hands-on experience with agile development methodologies
• Familiarity with NoSQL solutions (Mongo, Redis, Cassandra, etc)
• Experience with Django and Django Rest Framework
