Q2 is seeking a Linux Data Center Engineer to join the Q2 Datacenter Operations team. The successful candidate would be part of a Datacenter Operations team tasked with providing exceptional service and uptime necessary to provide millions of end-users with any time, anywhere access to Q2’s Online Banking application. This position will be responsible for support and maintenance, vulnerability remediation, troubleshooting complex issues, and making recommendations for improving the resiliency and scalability of the environment. Candidates with a strong background in supporting a Linux environment are preferred.

The environment consists of Cisco UCS hardware running Windows and Linux Operating Systems in a virtual environment (VMWare). NGINX and IIS web services running ASP.NET, Node.js, WordPress, and Drupal websites along with MySQL and Microsoft SQL are prominent components of our SaaS product. Experienced in using and supporting configuration and system management solutions such as Ansible Tower, Puppet, Chef, etc. are a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborative infrastructure development and infrastructure testing to meet rapidly growing systems
  • Improve automated cloud configuration, deployments, monitoring, management and incident response
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams to improve infrastructure
  • Build internal tools to demonstrate performance and operational efficiency
  • Work with other teams to resolve issues related to application configuration, deployment, or debugging
  • Provide system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of the Linux environment
  • Building internal platforms for use by internal teams to scale by automation

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • 5-8 years of related experience in Linux Systems Administration
  • Strong scripting experience (Ansible, Bash, Python)
  • Strong in Docker and Docker clustering
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills
  • Strong with Linux (CentOS / RedHat)
  • Strong with monitoring & alerting
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies
  • Knowledge of MySQL, Cassandra, PostgreSQL
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Certifications or an interest in pursuing certifications
  • Must have a sense of humor

PREFERRED

  • Strong with ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana)

Mo learned basic skills and the Q2 tech stack, starting as a Python developer before moving onto the core team. “I’ve never been discouraged from learning something new at Q2. There were no boundaries to my opportunities.” Thanks to unbridled support, Slavin is now a staff engineer who volunteers her time for Code2College, a career prep program.
