We are looking for a Clinical Informatics Architect to the management, design, and support of clinical information systems. The role is responsible for performing activities related to designing, monitoring, and supporting clinical information system architectures.


The role serves as a key resource in maintaining the integrity of the EMR across a variety of clinical applications, workflows, and Integrations by ensuring clinical and operational data is appropriately captured within the EMR. 

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

  • Serves as an integration subject matter expert across assigned clinical information systems and applications, specifically the EMR (electronic medical record) and accompanying interfaces; providing system, process, and problem resolution expertise.
  • Involved in the planning, designing, and validation of the EMR integration with internal and external third-party applications. 
  • Provides clinical application analysis, build, and testing of processes with other clinical and non-clinical applications across the organization as needed.
  • Serves as a HIT (health information technology) resource across departments utilizing clinical, technical, and analytical skills in evaluating proposed projects and making recommendations.
  • Participates in design and strategy of EMR projects to ensure standards and other data representations within impacted systems support integration requirements for standard data exchange and quality/regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborates with different teams and end-users to validate design decisions, ensuring the integrity of enterprise system architecture and designs.
  • Assists with developing and executing change management strategy (communication, buy-in, training, technical support) to enable a smooth implementation of new application changes and enhancements.
  • Monitors clinical information system performance and performs troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Involved in the selection, implementation, testing and maintenance of clinical applications and their corresponding architecture.
  • Serves as a stakeholder in workgroups to identify and resolve global design issues.
  • Provides consultation on process design alternatives and supports system validation processes for the Clinical Informatics team and other departments.
  • Leads the identification and execution of technical packages or releases needed to maintain the EMR or to resolve issues with the software.
  • Coordinates with clinical teams to establish and support processes necessary to ensure data integrity within and across the EMR and other clinical information systems or applications.
  • Actively participates in clinical quality and process improvement initiatives to ensure integration within and across the EMR and other clinical information systems or applications.
  • Serves as a liaison to internal Analytics staff in the development of special reports/dashboards regarding EMR data. 
  • Investigate and recommend automation solutions necessary to increase the quality and efficiency of clinical processes.
  • Analyze and define internal and external requirements for clinical data exchange.
  • Responsible for evaluating and validating EMR data collection and reporting for various quality and regulatory programs.
  • Designs changes to the EMR in line with agreed SOPs and Work Instructions. Designs, documents, and articulates technical specifications. Develops configuration, tests, and implementation plans. Obtains operational design approval. Provides input to standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Tests configuration and workflow changes. Develops test scripts. Performs unit, system, regression, and integration testing per standards and HIT best practices.
  • Provides EMR Go-Live support as needed. Provides on-call support. Troubleshoots and resolves issues including activating escalation procedures. 
  • Remains current on HIT industry trends and vendor/application/system roadmaps.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Healthcare related field, OR equivalent experience in healthcare or healthcare Information technology.
  • Experience with U.S. healthcare delivery system.
  • A current clinical license from the appropriate state(s) within their field of clinical practice, if applicable (Not required) Technical or field certification a plus (CAHIMS, CPHIMS, Lean Six Sigma, etc.). 
  • Knowledge of U.S. Health Information Technology standards, laws, regulations, and policies, such as those established by the ONC (The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology). 
  • Experience with Healthcare Information Technologies such as patient portal, Interoperability, HIE (health Information exchange), Telemedicine, and basic understanding of HL7 standards, CDA, eCQMs, QRDA, FHIR, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of standard IT Change Management principles and methodologies.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in HIT support, clinical informatics, EMR architecture and design. Experience with EMR integrations with internal and external third-party applications.
