Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

 

  • Develop control algorithms and calibration for class 8 electric drive systems consisting of high voltage motor controllers and associated motors 
  • Develop control algorithms for ancillary truck systems directly connected to Hyliion powertrain 
  • Responsible for requirements management using tools such as DOORS or JAMA 
  • Support engine calibration efforts to ensure that system is optimized for performance, efficiency and NVH 
  • Support the full powertrain controls integration efforts to ensure seamless communication with ADAS and associated vehicle systems 
  • Completion of performance and drivability testing continually testing new and upgraded calibrations to meet essential vehicle targets 
  • Work with outside engineering partners as needed to delegate and track work packets while in parallel continuing to build the capabilities of Hyliion’s controls and calibration team 
  • Support the creation of key APQP documents including FMEAs and DVP&Rs to drive product software reliability and robustness 
  • Represent Hyliion and present technical papers at key industry conferences 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing 
  • Familiarity with powertrain diagnostics 
  • Experience with: 
  • AUTOSAR 
  • ISO 26262 
  • Software Processes and Quality Assurance 
  • Software Requirements Management 
  • Software Design and Automation 
  • Software Testing Methods for Embedded Systems (MiL, SiL, PiL, RCP) 
  • Security and Security Management Methods 
  • J1939 
  • Diagnostics / Prognostics 
  • Cloud
  • Agile V-Model 
  • Model based function implementation and integration 
  • Experience in: 
  • Battery Technologies & BMS 
  • ADAS systems 
  • Electrified Components including Motors and Motor Controllers 
  • Conventional Powertrain and OBD Requirements 
  • Vehicle wiring systems 
  • Experienced with cloud services and API’s, particularly REST API’s 
  • Experience with communications protocols like CAN, USB, ethernet, TCP/IP 
  • Understanding of networking and networked-computing concepts is required; specifically, synchronization, race conditions and debugging communication protocols 
  • Competency with modern collaboration tools (like Slack, Jira Service Desk) 
  • Experienced with Atlassian products including Confluence, Jira and Bitbucket 
  • Experienced with the agile development process 
  • APQP toolsets including FMEAs and DVP&R 
  • Strong follow-through and self-starting nature 
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions 
  • Position will involve travel visiting engineering providers and hardware suppliers 
  • Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines 
  • Ability to positively and effectively communicate with customers (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5-10 year experience in an automotive electrification environment 
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, feel, or reach with hands and arms 
  • Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision 

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
