Position summary:

We are seeking an experienced Database/Business Intelligence Engineer to drive critical performance and scalability improvements for clients to best use our data layer. You will collaborate closely with a team of full stack software developers and an Architect to deliver highly valued solutions to our clients.
Join a growing and mission critical team to define a new generation of development processes, tools, and infrastructure to accelerate development efficiency and product scalability for the Population Health Management data analytics platform. Data is what we sell; this is an opportunity to work on the back-end -- but with client-facing impact.
Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in a data-focused software engineering role
  • Enterprise experience working with multi-terabyte data warehouse
  • Expert level knowledge and enterprise experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016/17, including SSIS, T-SQL, and advanced performance tuning techniques
  • Expert level knowledge with database DevOps, including build/package/deployment of SQL databases and SSIS Packages
  • Experience with other database platforms , noSQL, R, Python, and data modeling for modern analytics visualization tools, such as Tableau and PowerBI, are all a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals; experience in an Agile/Scrum environment preferred
  • Proficiency in, at least, one modern OO language (C# preferred)
  • Experience in deploying and managing Azure environments preferred
  • This is not a DBA position, but DBA competencies are appreciated

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Technical Execution:

  • Produce accurate, clear technical design specifications to the appropriate level of detail
  • Deliver customer value in the form of high quality software components and services in adherence with policies on security, performance, longevity and integration testing
  • Understand, follow, and reinforce Scrum methodologies, coding conventions, architectures, build processes, and best practices
  • Exceptional skill in data and system analysis and troubleshooting
  • Interested in and can quickly learn and leverage new and strategic technologies


Contributions to the Team:

  • Take ownership of what the team builds after the release; consider customer adoption as success criteria
  • Drive self-organization; help determine how the team functions in collaboration with your peers
  • Advise and train team members to maximize overall productivity and effectiveness

Cross-functional Team Coordination and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively across the Platform and Product organizations to ensure alignment towards business goals
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional team members of varying experience levels
  • Share business and technical learnings with the broader engineering and product organization, while adapting approach for different audiences
