What a day is like:

The DBA will be responsible for managing and maintaining MySQL, MySQL Aurora and Redshift databases across the enterprise including performance tuning/monitoring, data replication, database schema design and disaster recovery. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and support production web applications and infrastructure comprised of Linux servers and Windows servers running on AWS. 
  • Report any application or infrastructure issues identified in production systems including web application(s), database, file transmissions and supporting infrastructure.
  • Monitor daily scheduled jobs and file transmissions. Execute any failed jobs. Maintain agreed SLAs.
  • Create a daily report of the issues identified indicating appropriate criticality.
  • Participate in daily/weekly triage meetings.

You’re perfect for this role if you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and/ or experience
  • Required a minimum of 2 years’ experience
  • Experienced with setting master/slave and read replicas across multiple AWS regions
  • Must have Arora experience
  • Develop scripts and tools required for monitoring, auditing, performance and security
  • Experienced with effective backup and recovery processes
  • Familiarity with best practices schema design on MySQL and Redshift
  • Experienced with database encryption processes
  • Experienced with Python scripting
  • Experienced with identifying bottlenecks, deadlocks, slow running queries and fixing them

Valued skills:

  • Experience in the financial technical (fintech) industry
  • AWS experience 
  • Experience using Jenkins for orchestration/automation
  • Experience with Ansible
  • Scripting using Python, Go, or Bash
