As an Amherst DevOps Engineer, you will build and configure infrastructure with some of the latest technologies like Docker, Terraform, Github, and AWS. You will utilize DevOps tools like Teamcity (build) and Octopus (deploy) to support a wide variety of Javascript and .NET applications. You will work with Developers, Product Managers, Project Managers, Enterprise Application Administrators, DBAs, IT, Operations, Security, and Network Engineering colleagues to solve Amherst’s challenges.

What You’ll Do:
Application release management and Environment Management
Build CI / CD pipelines using VCS (Github), build (TeamCity), and deployment (Octopus) tools.
Hybrid Cloud Production environment support and administration - Windows, Linux
Use scripting languages and tools to perform automation.
Train technology team on best practices for build and deployment automation
Site Reliability – Create application health monitors and configure alerts.
Ensure appropriate security practices are implemented.
Test and implement new technologies and tools to improve Amherst systems.
Create and maintain documentation of new and existing processes.
What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science (or equivalent years of experience)
2 years experience DevOps Engineer, Software Engineer, or System Administration
Scripting experience (SQL/Python/PowerShell preferred)
Experience with automating build, deployment, and maintenance tasks
Ability to work in a complex environment with a mix of hardware, virtual, and cloud data environments.
Participation in On-Call Rotation – Amherst has several on-call teams including DevOps for after-hours incidents. We currently experience 1-2 incidents per month.
Preferred Qualifications:
CI / CD Pipeline management
Infrastructure as Code (AWS, TF, Docker exp)
Windows and Linux Administration
Mobile Application CI / CD
Salesforce Administration and CI / CD
Experience with REST APIs
Experience with .NET, NodeJS applications
