DevOps Integrations Engineer – Austin, TX

The DevOps Integration Engineer will manage the build and release cycle for multiple Amherst product suites. Responsibilities include configuration management, deployment, continuous integration and monitoring of SaaS offerings. The DevOps Integration Engineer assists developers and IT with resolution of application issues. This person will also administer and support DevOps tools and systems including source control, build automation, and deployment systems. This role will require a good understanding of the tools and technologies available to solve the various problems faced by the project team as well as the project constraints. This role will also require the ability to communicate technical topics at the appropriate level for the audience in both verbal and written form.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain build (TeamCity) and deployment (Octopus) infrastructure
  • Administer TFS source control
  • Develop processes to reduce deployment obstacles and improve developer productivity
  • Work with development teams to improve scalability, deployability, and monitoring of applications
  • Maintain and troubleshoot issues with source control, build, deployment and other DevOps tools
  • Implement and support best practices for Amherst applications
  • Train development staff on best practices for build and deployment automation
  • Monitor application environment and develop process to improve performance monitoring
  • Design SOPs to improve uptime and stability of Amherst’s applications
  • Ensure appropriate security practices are implemented in production environment
  • Consult with the team about the appropriate technology to meet the project objectives
  • Implement the solution that is developed within the project timeline, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Test and implement new technologies and tools to improve Amherst systems
  • Manage aspects of integration planning, testing, and execution

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 Year experience in Development, Software Engineering or DevOps
  • Experience with Microsoft .NET/.NET Core, C#, Web API, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, CSS, SOAP, REST, JQuery
  • Experience with Cloud based platforms (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and technologies
  • Familiar with PowerShell
  • Experience with automating build, deployment and maintenance tasks
  • Experience troubleshooting deployment and application errors in production applications
  • Ability to articulate product roadmaps
  • Familiarity with micro services
  • Familiarity with AWS ELB, ElasticSearch, Redis/ElasticCache, Java, Tomcat
