Scope
Lead Sysco’s Cloud Engineering teams in building an industry - leading, next generation eCommerce suite of products. Lead and grow a talented team of developers to improve and expand the Sysco’s cloud-based platform globally. Oversee and direct all aspects of Cloud Engineering including cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines, application performance management and application support.
Essential Functions
- Lead diverse, global teams to build and continuously improve a world-class cloud application platform using cloud-native tools and AWS. Manage a distributed team of engineers in the U.S. and Sri Lanka.
- Own and oversee the cloud application platform, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, manageable and complies with required security standards.
- Automate deployment, monitoring, management, and incident response. Strong emphasis on infrastructure as code principles.
- Monitor site stability and performance. Troubleshoot issues.
- Deliver robust and scalable solutions, incorporating in new technologies as appropriate.
- Partner with engineering teams to deploy new features and services.
- Coach team in both their technical and professional development. Identify and coordinate training needs.
- Recruit, retain and develop exceptional engineering talent.
- Cultivate a positive company culture that values cross team collaboration and trust.
- Continuously optimize team and development processes. Define policies and procedures, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7 years’ experience as a hands-on Cloud Engineering leader.
- 10 years of professional technical experience supporting enterprise-scale customers in product environment.
- Experience with AWS.
- Experience with automation tooling such as Jira, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Ansible or similar.
- Experience of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing and firewall.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent self-study.
- Experience in a large-scale environment, supporting 50+ software teams
- Experience mentoring and developing technical and functional skills of team members.
- Experience with monitoring and log aggregating frameworks like CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk, AWS X-Ray and APM tools.
