About the Department
Information Security at Cloudflare is a focused team committed to helping secure both Cloudflare and our customers. The Detection and Response team is responsible for engineering the systems and programs needed to protect our company and customer from real world threats.
About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious security engineering leader to take on ownership of our strategy and execution on building a world class security detection platform for our production environment. The most valuable tool for every security team is the infrastructure that ingests large volumes of logs and telemetry, and processes it near real-time to detect anomalies and security threats. At Cloudflare, we operate one of the world’s largest networks and cannot rely on an off-the-shelf product to keep up with our speed and scale. The right candidate for this role will grasp the importance of the effort and embrace the unique opportunity to build something special that will scale as our company grows, and will support our efforts to ensure that our infrastructure remains safe for all our customers.
As the security leader overseeing our Detection & Response platform team, you will be responsible for building, leading, and growing a globally distributed team of Software Engineers, Data Scientists and SREs.
Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience
- 5+ years experience in engineering management in software development, SRE and Data science
- Solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in building large distributed systems, log ingestion and ETL data pipelines.
- Excel at planning, creating teams and overseeing execution to meet commitments and deliver with predictability
- Demonstrate a track record of managing a team including hiring, onboarding, and professional development. You inspire your team to reach higher. You’re as good at explaining “why” as you are “how.”
- Experience implementing tools, process, internal instrumentation, methodologies and resolving blockages
- Comfortable managing teams/projects in multiple locations and time zones, with tight deadlines and short release cycles
Bonus Points
- Experience building data pipelines in public cloud environment like GCP or AWS
- Familiarity with cluster and configuration management systems such as Docker, K8s, Salt
- Experience productionizing Machine Learning models
