In this exceptional leadership opportunity as Director of Engineering - AI Platform, you will lead a team of engineers that executes complex cross-functional projects and programs that focus on the building of new, the alteration of existing. You will recruit and empower an elite management team to build highly-functioning engineering teams - teams that will define themselves as creative and collaborative - and pride themselves on continuous integration and delivery. Together with other leaders in data science, product, and design, you will drive a consistent strategy that stitches our members, our clinicians, and our partners together. You’ll report directly to the VP of Engineering and drive significant change at scale - relying on your keen understanding of the technology, business acumen and people management.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

• Work closely with technical leaders, business partners, and product managers to define and articulate technical requirements, communicate status, risks with resolution plan, upcoming milestones, and recent releases
• Build and maintain a long-term vision and technical roadmap - as well as work under timelines to keep key initiatives on schedule
• Lead the agile software development phases of various projects, drive roadmap execution, provide technical direction for the project(s) while planning for new ones
• Optimize recruiting, hiring, and onboarding to keep pace with company growth
• Inspire and lead your team as a strong people leader - apply your leadership strengths to drive outcomes 
• Partner with the business to have a clear understanding of how the technology stack is tied to business outcomes and our bottom line
• Identify areas of improvement within the code and suggests solutions
• Advocate for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability)
• Examine inefficiencies in the existing stack operation and encourage engineers to improve them

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Strong background in AI/ML Platforms and consumer focused services built on modern cloud native technology using the latest open source strategy
• Ability to look at solutions in creative ways - recognizing opportunities to innovate and drive business results
• Confident decision-making skills and the ability to develop and articulate clear technical solutions from ambiguous requirements
• Self-motivated with an attitude towards automation and scalability - emphasizing speed and execution 
• Strong technical leader with excellent verbal and written communication skills - and the ability to demonstrate effective leadership and mentoring skills to optimally grow, develop, and empower teams
