Evernote is looking for a high-performing Engineering Director to lead and build the Productivity Engineering organization. You will be responsible for the internal platforms and best practices around software development, CI/CD infrastructure, test automation, and observability tools used by all Evernote engineers. Your mission will be to enable a highly productive, end-to-end experience for engineers and to accelerate the delivery of our products with high quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Our desktop, mobile, and backend software are built on a number of technologies, including iOS, macOS, Android, Windows, Java, Node.js, Docker, and Google Cloud. We recently modernized our clients into a common codebase with React Native, Electron, and Typescript to run across platforms. We are also migrating from our monolithic application and expanding our microservices in our containerized infrastructure to scale to millions of users. We strive to ensure our engineering teams can manage the complexity of these systems and focus their attention to deliver value to our customers. As an Engineering Director, you will work closely with a very talented, dedicated and knowledgeable group of leaders and engineers to measurably improve the entire engineering lifecycle here at Evernote.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage, grow, and retain a world-class and distributed team focused on developer productivity and engineering excellence
  • Evangelize and drive adoption of best practices in code health, quality, test automation, reusability, maintainability, and reliability
  • Build and enhance the CI/CD platform, test infrastructure, observability, and engineering tools that unlock the full potential for development and operations
  • Partner with engineering teams to streamline the build and release process, increase test automation coverage, and maximize product quality with a data driven approach
  • Own the architecture, design, and implementation to modernize our pre-production and development environments
  • Build reusable frameworks and libraries so that engineering teams don’t need to reinvent the wheel
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define your team’s vision and roadmap
  • Drive collaboration and grow leadership within your team

What you’ve done:

  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • 2.5+ years of experience with Java or Javascript
  • Experience building CI/CD systems, test automation, observability, tools, and related processes
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving environment
  • Experience managing a distributed team is a plus as your team is in multiple locations, primarily in the US, Chile, Eastern Europe, and India

We are committed to an inclusive and diverse Evernote. We believe that different perspectives lead to better ideas, and better ideas allow us to better understand the needs and interests of our diverse, global Evernote Community. We welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives and are an equal opportunity employer.
