What You'll Do:
LogicMonitor is looking for an Engineering Director to manage teams that help enterprises and organizations manage their highly complex data centers and infrastructure across private and public clouds. The Director will manage the Engineering teams based out of Santa Barbara, and may end up managing other teams depending on the needs of the business.
The Director provides senior-level technical consulting to application development teams during application design and development for highly complex or critical projects, provides oversight for budgets and project plans, and manage technology risks and issues.
Here's a closer look at this key role:
- Deliver on overall product roadmap and goals of high product quality within budget and on-schedule. Plan, track and execute on overall engineering plan by appropriate prioritization, resource allocation and coordination with Product and Business teams.
- Adopt engineering best practices and champion their adoption in the organization. Ensure high quality engineering processes are followed – agile scrum, code reviews, architecture reviews, solid documentation, continuous integration and release management.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to prepare quarterly and yearly engineering plans and budgeting.
- Track the Key Engineering Metrics and present to key stakeholders. Represent engineering in executive meetings and key customer meetings.
- Build a high performance team. Attract, Recruit and Retain the top talent. Motivate team members and help them grow in the organization. Formulate long-term goals and standards of performance for engineering. Train team members at all levels to be successful and grow to the next stage in their careers.
- Stay current with the latest market trends, technology ideas and methodologies; share knowledge within LM and outside.
- Create a culture of responsibility and innovation, transparency, ownership and grow teams such that middle leaders are promoted from within and not hired from outside by design.
- Support cross-functional teams such as Product Management(Feature estimation, customer interaction), Tech Support(training and troubleshooting), TechOps(infrastructure scaling, design and operational improvements)
- Dedicate ample time with LM customers, prospects, and the industry to remain closely aware of customer problems and industry trends relating to product engineering.
- Participate as a member of the engineering management team.
What You'll Need:
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or related field of study
- 15+ years of industry experience delivering Enterprise products
- 8+ years industry experience in an engineering leadership position
- Experience in building and managing teams of 30+ engineers, and growing engineering organizations in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Demonstrated ability of attracting, recruiting and building high quality technology teams
- Extensive experience in delivering products with Open source big data technologies such as Kafka, Cassandra, Elastic etc. strongly preferred
- Experience in building enterprise products delivered via SaaS
- Demonstrated experience working with geographically dispersed teams and working closely with multiple stakeholders including product management, sales, customers and executive management.
- Expert in implementing and optimizing agile development and continuous integration / continuous delivery methodologies
