Director of Engineering

Verb is an online leadership development platform that delivers whole person development via experiential learning. Our content framework combines traditional business skills with modern topics, like Self-Awareness, Servant Leadership, Unconscious Bias, Empathy, and Growth Mindset. Our experiential learning platform integrates microlearning, peer learning, mentorship, feedback and assessments.

Job Overview:

-Own full stack software development lifecycle in collaboration with product leadership.

-Collaborate with the product management team to scope new features, align on deliverables, plan sprints, and allocate engineering resources.

-Partner with executive stakeholders to drive strategy and ensure that technology meets business needs.

-Own the Verb platform technology, and ensure scalability, security, and stability.

-Manage Verb scrum teams and hold regular 1:1s with full-stack engineers and QA analysts.  Deliver regular feedback and annual performance reviews and supporting engineers career growth.

-Research and provide feedback on third-party technology solutions that support all Verb teams.

-Monitor all Verb systems and ensure that alerts are in place.

-Define QA process and ensure success of QA function.

-Support sales and customer success teams by providing tech documentation and collaborating with client engineering teams.

-Maintain the engineering team operating expenses; forecast team and infrastructure expenses.

-Promote team L+D initiatives and organize tech talks and other learning opportunities.

 

What Awesome Stuff You’ll Do:

-Build Verb's technology brand through participation in virtual mentor groups, tech talks, and meetups.

-Build out a robust integration ecosystem with the biggest L&D platforms

-Act as administrator of all Verb engineering third-party tools.

-Work in contemporary infrastructure technologies for cloud services along with modern frontend and backend languages such as Node and Go

-Launch and scale mobile app on both Android and iOS

-Maintain a people roadmap; recruit, hire, and train new engineers.

 

What You’ll Need to be Successful:

-7+ years of engineering experience

-4+ years of engineering leadership experience

-Demonstrated ability to lead and scale teams

-Experience working with outsourced engineering partners/vendors

-Experience working in an agile/scrum environment with continuous integration/continuous deployment.
