JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Quality Assurance (QA) is responsible for ensuring the customers receive the highest quality solutions possible. The Director of QA works with Product Management, Engineering, and Project Management leads to define, implement, and execute Quality Assurance activities that span the entire Software Development Lifecycle. This role has responsibility for staffing and supporting an internal SDET team, along with responsibility for engaging and collaborating with external Quality Assurance vendor partners.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and optimizes current vendor relationships and vendor test processes
  • Assess gaps in testing, test case coverage, and test scripts
  • Evaluate current test frameworks being used and address gaps identified, drawing on experience,  best practices, and alternative frameworks
  • Hire and train future QA staff including manual and automation testers
  • Define the standard QA tool set required to support the framework and modify/acquire QA tools as required. Ensure consistent adoption of QA tools.
  • Oversee ongoing administration of QA tools.
  • Write and execute test strategy and test plans
  • Integrate test strategy and processes into the CI pipeline process and tooling
  • Produce thoroughly detailed quality assurance reports, covering overall product quality, QA process effectiveness, and defects
  • Participate in code reviews as necessary, and understand the code to be tested
  • Prepare for sprint planning by understanding the details (effort, risk, priority) of remaining work committed for an update. Use your expertise to identify potential gaps before they happen
  • Contribute ideas for continually improving the team’s productivity, job enjoyment, and code quality
  • Drive long-term quality improvements through effective Incident and Problem management practices that inform and contribute to the resolution of the most significant quality challenges
  • Share knowledge with team members and collaboratively build a shared vision for the team
  • Have fun working with an exceptional team and creating cutting edge software

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience in software testing (both manual and automation)
  • Experience in defining and implementing effective test automation strategies
  • Experience working in an Agile framework
  • Previous experience evaluating and managing vendor relationships
  • Successful track record of training and hiring a testing team
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, pro-actively reporting on status and tasks
  • Passion for testing software to the breaking point and beyond, with the ability to communicate precisely how breakage was accomplished
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge and experience with mature Incident and Problem Management processes
  • Keen business judgment and ability to focus your work on the highest risks
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present and translate complex information to internal teams in relevant business terms
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. Computer Science/Engineering major is preferable
