Join a purpose-driven, fast-growing enterprise software company that is working to transform 9-1-1.

The power to do remarkable things when it matters most is the heart of 9-1-1 and public safety. At RapidDeploy, we believe that regardless of size, geography or budget, everyone in public safety should have access to the data they need when it matters most to save more lives. That’s why, since 2016, our mission has been to reduce emergency response times and improve public safety. We are the industry’s only truly open and integrated emergency response platform with a portfolio of web-based cloud solutions that includes analytics, mapping, dispatch and first responder applications.

Over the past year, we have signed four state contracts and our software has been deployed in more than 400 9-1-1 centers across the U.S. We have increased our annual recurring revenue by more than 20X. We’re hiring passionate team members to help propel us into the next stage of growth.

RapidDeploy is actively seeking a Director of US Engineering to lead our rapidly growing team of engineers. As our Director of Engineering, you will provide the vision and direction of our technical roadmap, and maintain alignment of US feature teams to business and technical delivery expectations. You will remove roadblocks for the U.S. Engineering teams and work closely to align with Cape Town Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the vision and direction of the Technical Roadmap
  • Stay in tune with the Product Roadmap and deadlines especially where the US Teams are involved
  • Understand and adopt the Architecture Vision from the CTO & Director of Innovation
  • Assist & enable the VP Engineering with creating, maintaining and publishing Architecture Strategy and Architecture Decision Guidelines
  • Attend all your team’s Sprint Planning sessions, and hold Team Leads accountable to RapidDeploy quality standards, and act as an advocate for RapidDeploy organizational OKRs.
  • Provide team with technical guidance in accordance with architectural strategy
  • Partner closely with Senior Scrum Master, and routinely and proactively facilitate knowledge sharing with Agility Team
  • Understand all of the components and features that your teams are accountable for, and communicate with Product Leadership to ensure consistent alignment
  • Ensure US Engineering team is in synch with SA Engineering team, by facilitating best practices cross-country, encouraging collaboration, and finding opportunities to connect your team’s work to RapidDeploy’s mission.
  • Maintain alignment of US feature teams to business and technical delivery expectations, and act as a point of contact for escalations and leadership communications. Communicate effectively with business leaders across RapidDeploy to ensure visibility and encourage partnership.
  •  Work with sometimes ambiguous / conceptual requirements and guide the technical team to provide functionality with the right amount of engineering
  • Working closely with other development managers to make sure that we are not “re-inventing the wheel” in other teams (This includes Architecture, Agility, Infrastructure, Security and QA)
  • Keeping track of “Complexity/Technical Debt” effort and log “why” it was required across you areas of responsibilities.
  • Making sure that all the Teams are following the Release Process as defined by the QA Manager
  • Assist the Product Team in T-Shirt sizing of new feature requests (only to assist in validation of feature request)
