What you’ll do: 

Develop and implement the Lidar active sensing technical roadmap, leading a team of technical talent responsible for the design and implementation of sensor architecture, and collaborating with technical leadership in other areas such as Machine Learning, Vision, and Fusion to deliver solutions for our autonomous driving system. Serve as a software expert who has overseen a process from the R&D phase through product shipment and has a passion for leading teams and developing real-world solutions. Build and lead a team that solves problems which involve computer vision: processing sensor data from Lidar.

  • Drive decision making with respect to our sensor suite and its integration in the Perception system.
  • Collaborate with engineers across a variety of teams to brainstorm and accelerate the development of perception capabilities.
  • Design, implement and validate algorithms to support robust and scalable mapping pipelines for self-driving Trucks. In addition, you will also design and implement necessary metrics and tools.
  • Foster and reinforce a culture of continuous learning and relentless process improvement.
  • Deliver safety-critical software by leading, managing, and growing a team of Engineers & Scientists
  • Enhance and track processes, milestones, quality metrics, and timeliness of team’s work products to ensure successful completion of goals, tasks, and milestones.

What you’ll need to succeed: 

  • Entrepreneurial drive with a demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a fast-paced innovative environment and to deliver products through excellent team management and project management abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, OR other related discipline. Master's degree preferred
  • 10 + years of software development experience including developing and managing an environmental perception program and strategy.
  • 3+ years leading high performance engineering research and development teams.
  • Strong experience with Linux, Networking and Virtualization.
  • Experience with Virtual Machine, Linux OS, and interfacing with databases such as python and STOL, and cloud computing (AWS).
  • Outstanding skills in the field of environment perception (cameras, Radar, Lidar) with a proven record of accomplishment including software development, artificial intelligence algorithm development, etc.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and grow a diverse dynamic engineering team through both formal processes and hands-on management.
  • Track record of delivering complex technical projects
