Engineering Manager, Enterprise & Migrations (Data Residency)
Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it's necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
Are you a creative and talented leader who works hard to ship code early and often? Does working on a project that strengthens Atlassian's cloud platform float-your-boat? Do you want to build services that power innovation across Atlassian's products? If so, come join us at Atlassian and work on the Enterprise and Migrations team!
As an Engineering Manager of the Data Residency team, you will manage the development of features that help enterprise administrations to better manage Atlassian products. You will work closely with product management and design teams to build a feature roadmap, craft engineering delivery plans, define our measures of success and then drive towards the delivery. This individual will inherit an existing team of Backend/Frontend/Full-stack Engineers and collaborate with the Architects on the broader team to reach targets. We are looking for a passionate technical leader who will motivate the team members to excel and grow in their careers. You will be driving complex, multi-team projects which impact many partner teams along with managing the operations on the team (DevOps + TechOps), etc.
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
- 2+ years in engineering management following Agile development processes
- Breaking down problems into executable chunks and coordinating multiple engineers to deliver a solution
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring and retaining talent
- Ability to contribute to the technical and business strategy of the team
- Strong programming experience in Java or similar languages, and foundation in data structures, algorithms and distributed system
- Experience in AWS technologies like EC2, ELB, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, RDS and more. AWS experience can be substituted with experience in similar public clouds (i.e Azure)
- BS (or higher) in CS or related field
It's great, but not required if you have:
- Recent hands-on experience in developing high volume, robust microservices
- API development and design with REST or GraphQL
- Experience working in cloud enterprise software
- Experience in data residency in microservice architectures
About Data Residency
What is Data Residency
Data residency gives customers control over where their in-scope product data for Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence is hosted. It allows them to choose whether it's globally distributed or held in place in a defined geographic location, such as Europe or the US.
Customers who need data residency are those with security, legal, or compliance requirements that demand their data does not leave a specified location. Companies who work in regulated industries like finance, government, or healthcare may need data residency to operate in a cloud environment. Data residency is a crucial part of our cloud readiness story and continues to be one of the top asks for cloud adoption. To unblock customers we are building a strong foundation and adding a plethora of capabilities to efficiently support new AWS regions, products, and product capabilities for Data Residency.
