Engineering Manager (Offshore)

We are looking for people who lead engineers to be part of a talented, mission driven team, who is building powerful tools that greatly increase student success. Our Engineering Managers know how lead an engineering organization into building the right product, solving the right needs, at the right time. Furthermore, our Engineering Managers are the glue between the engineering team and the rest of the organization to continuously monitor if engineering is solving the needs of the organization.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead a talented cross-functional offshore development team through all stages of product development including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment in order to make our customers successful
  • Recruit and create excellent teams.
  • Build and maintain a successful collaborative relationship with groups outside of engineering including Product Management, Operations, and Customer Success.
  • Work with Product Management based in Austin to translate problems and market insights into user stories and developments tasks to be tracked in Jira
  • Provide clear communication of project status and risks to stakeholders
  • Estimate, plan, and manage team capacity across evolving product goals
  • Adopt a continuous improvement methodology to define and optimize software development process.
  • Willingness to work off hours to overlap as much as possible with the offshore team
  • 10% travel to India

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years development management of highly agile teams
  • 3+ years as managing offshore development teams, especially in India
  • Expert at some form of Agile management methodologies
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers through their career growth
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Proven ability to partner with key stakeholders including Product Management, Support, and QA

 

Must be an expert in some of the following:

  • Managing QA team members or organizations
  • Transforming teams into Agile teams
  • Running offshore teams
  • Managing teams utilizing secure development practices
