We’re looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead one of our engineering teams and make a big impact on our people, our culture, and our product. As an Engineering Manager, your mission will be to build, lead and motivate a team of dedicated software engineers responsible for building our platform. You’ll be a great fit for this position if you are excited about leveraging your technical expertise to help those on your team grow and succeed in their roles.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the development of the existing engineering team, including their product delivery and their personal development
  • Act as a cross-functional driver for the organization, consolidating priorities across stakeholders, communicating back timelines and plans to resolve open items
  • Be responsible for fostering an inclusive, engaging environment for existing teammates where they can perform their best work.
  • Hire, onboard, and train new team members, growing them to be strong contributors on the engineering team

If the details below describe you, you could be a great fit for this role:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, ideally with good exposure to both Front-End and Back-End technologies
  • 2+ years of experience managing an engineering team in a start-up / Software-as-a-Service environment
  • Familiarity with Python, Django, Javascript, MySQL, Vue.js, Webpack, Sass, PostCSS, Jest, Elasticsearch, and other similar technologies
  • Experience in hiring, training, and motivating engineering teams in a remote-first environment

Interview Overview:

Below you'll find an outline of the interview plan for our Engineering Manager role. Please note that this is what we expect the process to look like; we may ask you for supplemental information or require an additional step before making a final decision.

  • A 30 min interview with a member of our Talent Team
  • A 1 hour video interview with the hiring manager
  • Final interview with several team members, including a code discussion

Salary:

In the US, the base salary for this role is between $179,000 and $200,000+, depending on skills and experience. We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location. For all other countries, we have competitive pay bands based on market standards.

Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
