The Team…Enterprise Back Office Systems is a group of technology delivery teams focused on building, configuring, and delivering solutions for Team Member Services (HR), Accounting, Finance, Tax, Real Estate, Store Development, and Legal. We are a collaborative group of team members who work closely with one other and our business partners to ensure successful outcomes by completing development work on time and with high quality. Technology platforms in our area include SaaS and on-premise solutions such as Workday (Financials & HCM), Coupa (Indirect Procurement), Adaptive Insights (Budgeting & Forecasting), Tango Analytics (Site Planning & Lease Administration), Sales Audit (Retail Sales Auditing & reconciliation), and other custom-built applications. The Position…The Enterprise Back Office Systems teams are in a transformational era. We’re optimizing our current Workday HCM implementation, transitioning our ERP from PeopleSoft to Workday Financials, implementing a new budgeting and forecasting toolset in Adaptive Insights, and weave together these systems and data with custom AWS middleware solutions. As we bring our technologies into a more modern state, we are looking for a passionate Software Development Engineer who will work alongside Agile Development teams to develop and enhance software solutions across various product releases. In this role, you will be responsible for creating scalable technical designs and code for complex back office systems applications, servicing users across various roles and responsibilities. This position will require you to coach and mentor other team members and work closely with peers and business partners to increase the efficiency and performance of our software solutions. Tech stack is .NET, C#, Java, Angular, AWS, Python, React JS, Container technologies, and more. Located in Austin, TX with up to 10% time spent traveling to software partner, regional offices, and/or store locations.

Responsibilities:

• Set, promote, and execute the technical vision, strategy, and delivery of multiple complex and high-priority projects that directly impact the systems and business strategies of Whole Foods Market and Amazon

• Drive the architecture and design of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, and services, using object-oriented design and distributed programming

• Architect and develop consistent, reusable, and scalable data integrations

• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions that demonstrate significant creativity and high judgment

• Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices

• Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical areas, and helping team leaders guide the career growth of their team members

• Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience

• Present (verbal and non-verbal) technical information and solutions to audiences comprised of technical and business team members

Education & Experience:

• 10+ years of relevant and broad engineering experience

• 8+ years of experience working with popular enterprise programming languages (.NET, Java, C#)

• 7+ years of design, architecture, or consulting experience building distributed applications

• 2+ years of experience with AWS, including ECS, EKS, EC2, S3, and CloudFormation

• 2+ years of experience leading the development lifecycle

• Proven deep understanding of system performance tradeoffs and engineering for high availability

• Experience building APIs, containerized microservices with orchestration patterns, serverless functions, and contributing to modern event-driven architecture

• A Bachelors (BS) or Masters (MS) STEM degree or equivalent experience

Skills:

• Experience building web UI applications, including usage of modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as Angular/React

• Experience with Agile patterns and practices

• Experience with modern data storage mechanisms, including working with both relational and document databases where applicable
