FloSports (https://www.flosports.tv/) is a direct-to-consumer subscription-based sports media company that streams live events across 25 different sports (e.g. Cycling, Track and Field, Wrestling, Racing, Bowling, Marching Band, and more) to millions of athletes & fans around the world.

We are seeking a Full Stack Mobile Software Engineer to join our Apps Team (Android, iOS, tvOS, Roku, Fire, and more). The Apps Team is responsible for building, maintaining, and monitoring our native video-streaming applications on mobile and TV platforms. The Apps Team partners closely with our platform, revenue, and acquisition teams to iterate on opportunities that allow us to reach new audiences, retain existing subscribers, and deliver world-class experiences.

On the Apps Team, you will be responsible for creating scalable solutions that have a major, long-term impact on the engagement of our growing subscriber base. Our systems are built upon AWS & Google Cloud Platform with TypeScript, Node.js, PHP 7, Symfony 4, MySQL, Redis, Cloudsearch, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with other engineers, design, and product to rapidly build, iterate, test, and deploy enhancements and new features across API services and apps
• Work at the crossroads of native mobile development, cross-platform solutions, and service architecture design
• Deliver maintainable and performant code while monitoring app and service performance, logging, and alerting
• Advocate for and improve on project code quality, automated tests, CI/CD initiatives, and the developer experience
   

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Computer Science degree or related technical discipline or equivalent experience (2+ years)

• Proficient in creating & optimizing scalable backend web service APIs for mobile clients using JavaScript/TypeScript on Node.js or PHP, MySQL or other relational databases, and caching techniques
• Deliver performant features through an iterative approach: building, measuring, and learning
• Experience working with third-party libraries and RESTful API integrations
• Seek to drive efficiencies and automating routine workflows and tasks
• Desire to produce clear, maintainable, and testable solutions that teammates want to build upon
• Can iterate rapidly on features collaborating with design, engineering, and product to continuously learn and delivery value to our customers

Bonus Points:

• Hands on experience creating consumer-facing mobile apps using Kotlin (Android) or Swift (iOS)
• Experience utilizing a BFF (backend-for-frontend) or API gateway architecture
• A testing mindset and familiarity with mobile testing strategies
• Streaming video experience with HLS, container formats MP4 & TS, or codecs H.264
• Production knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or GCP
• Familiarity with Datadog or other performance monitoring tools
