Who You Will Work With...
In a Zero Trust Architecture, the Trust Engine is a key component that assesses the risk of individual requests. On Duo's Trust Engine team, we work with data scientists to translate machine learning research into Trust Engine features that assist our customers improve their security posture.
You are a self-motivated individual who is able to learn and adapt quickly. You are comfortable working as a member of a team but can also exercise good judgment and drive tasks to resolution on your own. You are passionate about building secure software. You continually find opportunities to improve and hone your software engineering knowledge and skills. You are not afraid to take on complex issues, take the initiative to solve problems, communicate solutions, or raise issues. You can weigh tradeoffs between tech debt and delivering value to customers. You are able to build strong relationships across multiple organizations and distributed teams.

What you'll do...
- Build full stack features with Python and React.
- Partner with data scientists on feature engineering.
- Perform load testing and scaling feasibility.
- Participate in infrastructure and architectural decisions
- Assist with sprint planning and breaking down tasks.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior team members via code reviews, written guides, 1:1s, and other professional development activities.
- Design solutions to productionize research that helps organizations improve their security posture
- Partner with data engineers and data scientists to deliver machine learning product features to millions of users at more than 21,000 Duo customers.
Skills you have...
- Experience with javascript applications
- Developed REST APIs, and/or microservices
- Experience performing load testing and optimization
- Strong programming skills in Python or any other modern languages such as Java, Node.js, Ruby or .NET
- Experience clearly documenting ideas, plans and system design proposals
- Experience engaging stakeholders across multiple teams
- A commitment to quality and an eye for details
- The agility to work in a high-growth tech organization
Even better if you have a couple of these...
- A passion for security and privacy
- Experience working with data pipelines with one or more streaming technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, Beam, etc
- Experience with asynchronous programming such as asyncio, Twisted, Promises, .NET async
- Experience running deployments at scale in AWS or similar cloud providers
- Experience scaling a NoSQL database such ElasticSearch, MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc
- A record of success working with data science teams in an engineering capacity in the past
- A love to tackle sophisticated problems revolving around data
