Job Summary:


The data science team at Cart.com is a centralized team that reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for all things data, analytics, and ML/AI of Cart.com. The team consists of Cloud Architects, Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Data Viz specialists. It is our team's mission to disrupt longstanding players in the value chain of ecommerce by designing a distributed network of capabilities that are 10x cheaper, 10x more convenient, and 10x better.


  • Leads all front end development for the data science engineering team and their corresponding applications
  • Works collaboratively across release trains, specifically with the shared services team, in order to ensure the design and deployment of the data science applications are seamless and within brand guidelines
  • Work as part of a dynamic data science engineering team throughout the entire software development life cycle 
  • Strongly collaborate with UI/UX designers in order to design and implement enhancements or new applications 
  • Assist in architecting cloud solutions and defining best practices - including staying up to date with new technologies
  • Assist in planning and selecting work streams to improve the product and customer experience
  • Reviewing code of junior or offshore team members and peers for best practices and good software principles
  • Development and maintenance and oversight of frontend deployment and lifecycle management with focus on CI/CD
  • Leveling subject to candidate qualifications and interview performance - Senior or Lead available

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a strong focus on Front End Development
  • 5+ years experience in JavaScript Engineering (Specifically React)
  • 5+ years experience in Node development with npm package development and management experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Cloud technologies.
  • 3+ years in CI/CD - preferably Gitlab or Jenkins.

  • Preferred Qualifications: 


  • Experience working with data science engineering teams - ML, data, and viz engineering specialists
  • Experience with development in Python/Django
  • Experience working with Kubernetes and in Microservice development
  • Experience working in high concurrency, real-time environments
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience working with charting libraries such as Highcharts, etc.
  • Experience with data viz graphical libraries like D3.js

Our headquarters is located in Austin, Tx at the address listed. The majority of our roles are flexible hybrid for employees who live within the cities where we have offices and remote for employees who are not located in those cities.
