The name ThousandEyes was born from two big ideas: the power to see things not ordinarily possible and the ability to collect insights from a multitude of vantage points. As organisations rely more on cloud services and the Internet, the network has become a black box they can't understand. Our Internet and cloud intelligence platform delivers the only collectively powered view of the Internet, cloud and SaaS platforms, helping enterprises and service providers work together to identify problems before it impacts revenue, damages brand reputation, or halts employee productivity.

In August 2020, Cisco Systems completed the acquisition of ThousandEyes, which now forms the ThousandEyes Business Unit within Cisco’s Network Services Business Group, and is a foundational component of Cisco’s growing Observability business.

 What You’ll Do

This role is the technical leader for the Production Systems Infrastructure team. We’re looking for a talented and highly proficient Site Reliability Engineer with a networking background.  As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer on this team you will be providing technical leadership to the team and ensuring the team reliably builds and operates infrastructure and networks, as a code, that scale and keep the ThousandEyes platform always available.

Site Reliability Engineers at ThousandEyes are responsible for building and operating our production network, ensuring network scalability and reliability across many cloud providers as well as our world-spanning network of monitoring systems as well as developing and deploying tools to help manage and monitor our network. ThousandEyes has major products based on BGP, and having skilled networking specialists is essential.

Qualifications

• Have 8+ years of experience building and operating infrastructure and networks
• Are a fast learner and comfortable working with new technologies
• Are an expert on AWS networking solutions such as VPCs, Elastic IPs, Elastic Network Interfaces, Global Accelerator, Security Groups, etc.
• Have an exceptional understanding of network fundamentals, BGP, DNS, TCP/IP, and the inner workings of the HTTP protocol.
• Have an understanding of Kubernetes networking paradigms - Flannel, Istio etc. 
• Know Terraform or a similar language
• Are proficient in writing scripts and developing automation

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience with DDOS mitigation techniques
• Experience with multi-region networking design
• IDS, IPS & Cloud Network Hardening
• Go, Python 
• TLS
