Our Engineering team is working to build our core products. As a Lead SRE Engineer at Bright, you will work in a highly collaborative environment where your input will be valued and required to overcome technical challenges. You will be providing technical leadership, mentoring, and helping to grow a team of SREs tasked with maintaining, operating, and growing Bright Health’s customer facing and back end assets. As with every member of the team, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's productivity, culture, and code quality. The ideal candidate believes in the principles behind SRE operations, such as reducing toil, accepting risk, ubiquitous measurement – and embarking upon a journey of continuous and incremental changes to improve the end user’s experience.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing recommendations to improve process and implement best practices.
  • Act as technical lead in a team of 3-5 engineers.
  • Collaborating across the engineering team in the implementation of CI/CD pipelines for everything from data schema to microservices and containerized applications.
  • Supporting platforms to ingest and move data throughout the company
  • Implementing robust monitoring, alerting, and automation to detect and mitigate problems before customer impact.
  • Apply prior engineering and development experience to address the pain points that prevent engineers from doing their best work.
  • Participate in developing demos and proofs-of-concept to aid in the evaluation and selection of open source vs. PaaS vs. external vendor tools to speed delivery of products critical to our business.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (degree requirements waived with demonstrable enterprise experience)
  • 5+ years of related experience, either as a software engineer, or in supporting software development in an agile environment and enterprise experience coding in more than one language, the primary production languages in house are: Node JS, C#, PowerShell, and Python.
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting infrastructure in the cloud in Azure
  • 3 + years’ experience with setting up, scaling, troubleshooting, and monitoring Kubernetes clusters, AKS a big plus.
  • 3+ years’ experience leading a team of SRE/DevOps Engineers
  • Experience building Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment services for software delivery.
  • Experience with Version Control Systems, such as Git, Mercurial, etc.
  • Jira or similar trouble-ticket software.
  • Experience working alongside security professionals to assist in industry compliance audits or security audits is a strong plus.
  • Ability to collaborate and find solutions when presented diverse opinions and viewpoints a must.
