That’s where you, the Lead Software Engineer, come in.

About This Role

This job is about assessing where the biggest business opportunities exist on our site and implementing cutting-edge solutions that improve the AppSumo platform. In this role, you’ll work on customer-facing products and watch your code impact millions of users within days! We work hard and ship fast, but we still keep a high bar for quality and testing. 

We recently rebuilt our platform with an updated tech stack that includes Python, Vue.js, Javascript, Node, AWS, ElasticSearch. Currently, we run a CICD environment. 

On the day-to-day, you’ll be:

• Leading and coaching a small team of engineers on best practices for architecture, coding, and delivery  
• Collaborating with the team to define roadmap
• Working with our product and design team to deeply understand and communicate the needs of our users
• Designing and building software to reach an audience of millions, using Python and Javascript
• Building infrastructure to handle hundreds of terabytes of user data using Postgres, ElasticSearch, Redis, and more 
• Working in a CI/CD environment with Python and Jenkins, and touching on AWS and Docker
• Partnering closely with customer support to respond to user issues and solve them in a permanent, scalable way

This is a unique role best suited for someone who wants to take the step into leadership. They can fearlessly run point on feature development, delegate tasks and use their broad expertise to work through the whole stack. Our ideal candidate has:

• 5+ years of industry experience, preferably with an e-commerce SaaS/PaaS company
• The desire to coach other engineers
• Knowledge of 3rd party integrations
• Experience owning an entire feature from start to finish
• Familiarity with Python, Javascript, and AWS 

In your first six months, success means learning the code base and shipping out three meaningful features to the AppSumo website.

Pay & Benefits

We provide a competitive compensation and benefits package. Due to the coronavirus, our team is remaining remote through the summer of 2021, and it is currently optional to go into our Austin office. 

When at the office, you’ll be equipped with a standing desk, a monitor, and any other tech you need to feel productive. Oh, and you can bring your dog to work. We love your dog :)
